Sol Heredit is the final boss of the Fortis Colosseum. Gnomonkey describes the fight as intense, built around a spear and shield attack cycle, a triple melee-prayer parry, a gear-piece grapple and lethal lasers, and has taught it in several guides after his world record kill in March 2024.

Stats and gear

  • Sol has 800 ranged and magic defence and his only weakness is slash12. Gnomonkey says he got the world's first Monster Examine on him1.
  • The Scythe of Vitur is the best option and has better DPS on Sol than both Tumeken's shadow and the Twisted bow23.
  • With a whip, DPS is 30 percent lower than with a scythe, and ticks are lost flinching away every five ticks, since the boss is five-tick and the whip four-tick4. See also the Soulreaper axe guide5.
  • Death Charge helps because it can be charged off the first minion6. Blood Fury heals while swinging7.
  • The mage Fremennik is handled equally by the Webweaver bow (two-shots on a six-tick weapon) or the four-tick Venator bow (one-shots but needs the ranger kept up)8.

Attack pattern

  • The fight is melee; keep attacking at all times, even when brewing, restoring or drinking super combat, since Sol does not stop attacking until he dies976.
  • Spear and shield. Sol's two main attacks are a spear lunge and a shield slam with different areas of effect5. What he last did modifies the next: a second spear goes from two-pronged to three-pronged, and a second shield slam from one tile out to two710. The cycle resets whenever he switches attack11. After a special (grapple or parry) the counter resets, so the next is spear one or shield one1213.
  • Dodging. After a spear, step back from the middle top or diagonally; after a shield dodge one tile back, and two after a second shield1415. Gnomonkey moves to the tile that avoids both possible next attacks (after a spear diagonally back, after a shield two tiles back)1617, comparing it to biking while staring forward18. In July 2024 he described dodging from a corner for spear one, diagonally for spear two, the other corner after a phase transition, then the middle, before dragging Sol19.
  • Phases. At 90%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 10% health Sol shoots lightning and is guaranteed to follow with a spear20; transitions drop puddles that stack Doom and hit for 2021. In the last 10% he shoots lots of lightning, but he dies in two or three swings22.
  • Parry (triple protect melee). He charges with an orange glow, then attacks three times; protect from melee must be on the tick each hits (three ticks, three ticks, four ticks; below 50% health three, three, then five)232425. He says it is easier by feel than by tick counts26, and the EZs7lRnEL0Y guide says to turn prayer off and back on for the longer final gap27.
  • Grapple. He shouts a body part (cape, boots, gloves, body or legs), shown in white text and the chat box, and the matching gear piece must be clicked2328. Blocking guarantees a max hit on the next attack, about 100 damage to the boss, and saves about 10 to 15 seconds293031. Clicking as his hand starts moving is the last tick; once he closes his fist it is too late30. He later says there are around five ticks, so he hovers the piece and clicks rather than clicking out of panic22. A Saradomin godsword spec can follow the perfect parry32. He suggests zooming out far more for the fight, as missing clicks was his issue33.
  • Lasers. The lasers hit for over 70 (70 to 80) and are the highest damage in the fight; take any other hit instead233435. They can one-shot him at 60 health36.
  • Solar Flare orbs circle in a square, pull prayer off and add Doom stacks37. Totemic heals the boss, Ender Bees spawn, and the totem respawns if not killed fast38. With Quartet an extra Fremennik spawns and should be killed immediately; his plan was to claw spec on entry then melee, killing the extra Fremennik first3839. See Colosseum invocations.

Approach and advice

  • Call out every attack aloud and fight proactively, moving to a tile that dodges both possible next attacks364041. Dodge instead of healing, since brew spam after a mistake gets you hit again12.
  • Control the boss and avoid being pinned to a wall by rotating or moving when puddles appear; have 100% special before Soul so the fight is not 30 seconds longer4243.
  • He recommends the Soul Simulator, a 3D version of Sol with adjustable ping, UI size, keybinds and attacks, and says a tile set can be imported with !soultiles4437. A plugin shows a volatility icon on Sol45.
  • He chose Frailty 2 for the boss, reasoning one-shots are avoided at full health; a viewer argued a laser would one-shot, and he noted lasers do 8046.

  • In Leagues V, the orb for Echo Sol is a guaranteed Colosseum completion drop (a permanent unlock), speed is a big glory multiplier (one run about 58,000), and the melee relic heal passive was so good the DDS restored his health almost immediately596061. He argues wave 8 is on average the hardest wave, wave 9 a gimme, leaving waves 10 and 1162. In the no-brew fist-only fight, the one attack he doubted was protect melee63.
  • Sol's fight is similar to his Zuk and Inferno teaching: keep attacking at all times9.
