TzTok-Jad is the boss of the Fight Caves and the first Jad encounter of the Inferno. Gnomonkey considers him a tough boss only because of how long it takes to reach him and his potential to one-shot a player, and says he is considerably easier than most bosses in the game.1 The same idea carries into the Inferno, where he calls triple Jads a lot easier than people make them out to be, just really intimidating.7 His biggest tip is not to explain how to do Jads while doing Jads, because it makes you get hit.8
Stats and attacks
Jad has 250 health and two attack styles, ranged and magic, which he switches between randomly with a max hit of 97. He can also melee a player who walks within melee distance.1 His average hit is in the high 40s, about 49, so one hit can almost always be tanked.9 Attacks come 4.8 seconds apart, so Gnomonkey advises one action per attack, such as flicking the next attack, drinking a prayer dose, then returning to protecting.3
He reads Jad's animations rather than sound cues. If Jad rears up lifting a leg, he fires magic; if he slams both feet down, a rock falls dealing ranged damage.10 Jad's projectile damage is calculated as soon as it is on screen, so the prayer can safely be turned off once it is visible.1112
| Version | Hitpoints | Max hit | Healers | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fight Caves | 250 | 97 | 4 (healer max 14) | Spawns in the Caves; usually dies in a few blowpipe hits.131314 |
| Inferno (single) | 350 | 113 | 5 (healer max 18) | Spawns in the northwest corner; same defence level of 480, nastier combat stats.2114 |
| Inferno (triple) | 350 | 113 | 3 each | Nine-tick attackers, not the usual eight.25 |
Healers
Below half health (125 HP in the Fight Caves) Jad spawns four healers that run to Jad and heal him. They must be tagged and lured more than four tiles away to stop. If they are killed before Jad is healed to full they do not respawn; if Jad is restored to full they respawn at half health.315 Their semi-inaccurate melee has a max of 14, so with sub-60 Defence he recommends luring and killing them immediately, and otherwise leading them behind and killing them if they cause trouble.13 Many players bring a crossbow switch to long-range Jad, but he does not, since the blowpipe's range of five lets him stack the healers behind or next to him.15
Healers heal Jad while within four tiles of him, stop healing if interrupted, and re-aggro Jad if dragged within five tiles of his southwest tile.16 Standing northeast of Jad avoids his southwest tile, so healers can be tagged without re-aggroing him.17
Single Inferno Jad
In the Inferno Jad spawns in the northwest corner, can max a 113, has more health than the Fight Caves version, and has more dangerous healers (max 18).11 Five healers spawn at half HP.4
- Prayer: he would not pray Rigor during the single Jad wave unless around six restores are available; with fewer than four restores he flicks Jad as much as possible.11
- Position: stand west of Jad's spawn, since healers never spawn east of him, which lets them be tagged easily. A specific tile gives the highest chance of healers ending up behind the player.412
- Tagging: manually Blood Barrage clumps of healers with the bow on, stand close to Jad and pipe all five, or use the twisted bow if uncomfortable.4
- Stacking: with all five tagged, enter melee range praying melee, run up and down in front of Jad so the healers stack, wait for his next attack to protect, then run through him so the healers get stuck behind him, and Barrage them to reach 99 HP before triples. Stacking and running through should go west to east or east to west, not north to south, because of pathing.1819
By July 2026 he describes the single Jad from the tile right of the spawn, one tile away, because healers spawn at half health and can spawn behind the player, where they can be ignored. If healers spawn both behind and in front, tag the one healing Jad with the staff, tag the one in front, and step backwards so they get trapped on each other. Healers do a surprising amount of damage.2021
Triple Jads
Before triples he overbrews, restores stats and optionally drinks a Bastion.7 In 2026 he drinks the Divine bastion for extra damage and extra doses.22 Clicking log out pauses the wave so nothing spawns, which he uses before starting triples.23
Start by praying Rigor and attacking the southern Jad, doing one action per protected attack, exactly as with a single Jad.5 The triple Jads are nine-tick attackers, giving a clean 3 ticks (nearly 2 full seconds) between attacks, and each has only three healers.5 The July 2026 video describes each Jad attacking every three game ticks; when the projectile appears the player swaps to the next Jad's prayer, and the direction of the order is random.24
- Start one tile from Jad in line with the southern Jad's southwest tile, so healers stick on each other. A healer behind you does not need tagging, and walking backwards two tiles can make healers stick.25
- Move to the next Jad standing southwest of the northwestern Jad for the same trap; he once tagged all three healers with one barrage when they surrounded Jad's southwest tile.26
- With the staff on, click Jad to tag healers by a southwest tile and back up a couple of tiles if several hit you; they get stuck and only one is tanked.22 He chooses a side of Jad where a healer is likelier to be trapped and he can barrage Jad directly to hit every healer around it.27
- Before the final Jad, pause the wave and probably turn Rigor off unless resources are plentiful. Tag healers as on the single Jad, and do not run around afterwards, as run energy does not recover once a wave pauses and it is needed for Zuk.28 He queues a log out before the last Jad so he can leave before Zuk.22
Five Jad challenge
Inferno Jads are tougher than regular Jad: max hit 113 versus 97, defence level 480, and 350 HP versus 250.2 In the five Jad challenge the east and southeast Jads have no delay between attacks (one tick per attack). There is a one-tick delay from the southeast to the southwest Jad and another from the southwest to the west Jad. The west and northwest Jads attack each tick with no delay, then another one-tick delay precedes the east Jad and the cycle repeats.293030
The west and northwest pair and the east and southeast pair have tight timing, which determines the kill order and when a healer can be clicked or a supply used.31 His approach: click healers or use supplies only when not under attack from tight-timing Jads, and kill one Jad of each tight-timing set before moving on.31 He starts with the northern Jad on a tile giving the best chance of healers getting stuck, corner-trapping most so typically one hits him.31 Then he takes the southeastern Jad (the last with tight timing) and then the southwestern Jad with the tightest timing remaining; after that kill order does not matter and the run is basically over barring a major mistake.32 Running all the way to a Jad's southwest tile would stick more healers, but he avoids it when it makes the attacks harder to see.33
Challenge runs
- Mage-only Fight Caves (May 2024): Ket-Zek have 240 magic level and Jad has 480, making a mage-only fight very difficult. He estimates about 27% accuracy with his setup.634 His plan is to let healers heal, tag them and lead them far away rather than kill them, since they have 120 magic level and 100 mage defence.16 His thralls out-damage him on Jad, which is why he brought Thralls instead of relying on Barrage.35 He had little experience with healers because a normal Fight Caves Jad usually dies in a few blowpipe hits.14
- Hardcore group (August 2024): he has one DPS against Jad (0.9 without weapon poison, closer to 1 with it), making a slow and nervous fight.3637 He logs out at Jad to switch to a normal world, noting it is not a safe death and that dying ends the hardcore group.38 He kills the healers first and needs them to damage him, since at full health Jad could kill him; he steps out with ranged prayer, waits for a mage hit and then tick eats.39 He keeps strength potions for Jad specifically (one or two doses) and tick eats with strength brews.39 He kills Jad and receives the Fire cape.40
- First attempt (2020): it ended anticlimactically when Jad spawned on top of him and meleed him to a KO.10
- Breach 5 (June 2026): Jad had a huge range, so teammates stood behind a rock while he dragged it to the team's position.41 To pull it, a teammate comes out a little further to a specific tile and tags it again.42 The team focuses on Jad and switches between range and mage prayer as it attacks.43 He complains that Jad was looking at one teammate but hitting him, calling it cross-eyed.43
