Methods

  • The Lightbearer doubles special attack regeneration but has no stats.1

Tips

  • Lightbearer lets you spec with the blowpipe more often, and that two blowpipe specs on a digging melee kills it since the spec has accuracy and heals you, which is what kills many first-cape attempts.2
  • Lightbearer lets you tank melee hits in a pinch, which is why he likes it.3
  • The Lightbearer is amazing on high-defence bosses weakest to melee because it lets you use highly accurate special attacks, with the Zaryte crossbow or Tombs of Amascut bosses as examples, and pairs extremely well with the Osmumten's fang.1
  • The Lightbearer is also good for tanky bosses and bosses with downtime, such as Sotetseg, Maze or Duke Sucellus.4
  • The Toxic blowpipe special attack does double damage and is more accurate, making it really good against melees and killing things quickly is important.5

  • Gnomonkey always chooses Lightbearer over the Ring of the Gods in Inferno, disagreeing with the common advice that the Ring of the Gods is best.2
  • Gnomonkey says Lightbearer combined with Eldritch lets you spec even more and get more prayer, while the Ring of the Gods is a good choice too; you can get the cape with either but Lightbearer slightly edges it out.6
  • Gnomonkey says that for the most part the Lightbearer is the king of the ring slot, with melee rings excellent only for non-fang melee weapons, and lower-tier versions of those rings being utterly useless.7
  • Gnomonkey always uses the Ring of the Light Bearer in the Inferno because the faster blowpipe special attack lets you double-spec a melee dead, which is the main thing that kills players.8
  • Gnomonkey says you really, really want the Light Bearer ring when doing an Inferno, saying 'you really do', and that you can downgrade only the staff.9
  • Gnomonkey uses a Lightbearer rather than a Magus ring with his shadow; without a Magus in Max Mage, Mystic Vigor maxes the same as Augury would.10
  • Gnomonkey says you do not need a Magus ring with the shadow: with a moderately decent spec weapon like a Void Waker or Zaryte crossbow, Lightbearer gives equal or better DPS than a Magus, and skipping it saves a couple hundred million.11
