Methods

  • Gnomonkey spams Emberlight specs at the start of the Yama fight (deliberately missing normally), aiming for three Emberlight specs to hit the defence cap.1
  • After three Emberlight specs land Yama is at the defence cap, so Gnomonkey says to switch to burning claws specs.2

Stats and numbers

  • Emberlight and Arclight have only 13 strength bonus, so they soak up strength bonus and you should maximise strength bonus gear when using them.3
  • Emberlight needs 30 Arclight shards (banked as you hit monsters, regardless of wasted charges), and recommends killing Dust Devils for shards because their drops pay back the cost of bursting them.4
  • Each roughly 2 strength bonus adds about 1 max hit for Emberlight.5
  • In Gnomonkey's improved Yama melee setup, his max hit was about 60 against Yama because of the added demonbane, compared with about 45 with the wiki setup.6

Tips

  • To do as many burst tasks as possible to get shards, since Emberlight's jump over Arclight is smaller than the Scorching bow's jump over an Atlatl.4
  • On a budget, Gnomonkey says the goal is to land three Emberlight specs on Yama at the start, then dump burning claw specs.8
  • In a duo budget run, one player acts as backup and only specs Emberlight if the partner's specs miss; you only need three Emberlight specs on the boss.9
  • Gnomonkey advises bringing the highest strength-bonus gear, for example Blood Moon and Blue Moon, to maximise Emberlight's max hit; dropping strength bonus loses many max hits.10
  • Any strength you can give Emberlight is extremely important for its max hit; his budget Yama setup with it reached a max hit of 60 on Yama.11

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says Arclight or Emberlight is your best DPS option against Tormented demons, and Emberlight does almost 11 DPS at best compared with 7 or 8 for the Scorching bow.3
  • Gnomonkey considers both the Scorching bow and Emberlight best in slot for Tormented demons.12
  • Per the video description, Emberlight is always best in slot over the scythe at Yama with Torva helm and Oathplate chest/legs.13

  • Emberlight's damage comes almost entirely from your gear's strength bonus: Gnomonkey's melee strength was 19 and rose only to 32 on equipping it, since the weapon itself has 13 strength.18
