Stats and numbers

  • The Eldritch veil is a new best-in-slot cape for magic offence, made by using a demonic mark (a tradable consumable) on any imbued god cape, while the finished cape is untradeable.1
  • The Eldritch veil gives five extra magic attack and 1% magic damage with a trade-off of negative two prayer bonus.2

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey thinks 1% magic damage with negative Prayer is odd and says it feels like the Tumeken's shadow is holding back magic as a whole, so he believes it should be 4% magic damage, noting the magic rebalance already hindered magic.2
  • Gnomonkey is happy that nearly all Doom of Mokhaiotl rewards are tradable, and says the encounter is not suited to a quiver-style untradeable unlock.3
  • Gnomonkey says raising the Eldritch Veil's prayer stat from negative two to plus one makes sense, and he asks why its defence stats cannot simply match the Mage Arena 2 cape.4

Events

  • Following feedback, Jagex decided to make the Eldritch Veil untradeable.10
  • Jagex described the Eldritch Veil as intended to be a minor upgrade, a stopgap between the imbued god capes and an eventual magic cape.11
  • Jagex said it did not intend the Eldritch Veil to replace the Inferno cape.12
  • Changes announced to the Eldritch Veil: it becomes an untradeable item, its prayer bonus is raised to plus one, and Jagex is re-examining its defence stats.12
  • The Eldritch Veil becomes a guaranteed drop at delve level 8 and a standalone item, so it no longer needs to be attached to an imbued god cape and the demonic mark is removed.13
