Requirements

  • The western diaries' chompy requirements are needed to unlock elite Void.1
  • Void is unlocked through Pest Control and takes about 10 to 15 hours of the minigame to obtain; the elite outfit requires the Western Provinces hard diary.2

Stats and numbers

  • A void set consists of void gloves, robe bottom and top, and a helmet; the full set gives a 10% melee damage and accuracy bonus for melee, 10% ranged damage and accuracy for ranged, or a 45% accuracy bonus for magic.3
  • The robe top and bottom can be upgraded to elite versions after completing the Western Provinces hard diary, for 200 points each; each piece provides an extra +3 prayer bonus for a total of +6, and a 2.5% damage boost for the magic and ranged sets.3
  • Wearing void means forgoing a tormented bracelet and ancestral robes, which provide an eleven percent damage bonus.4
  • The Void outfit gives a 10% damage bonus (12.5% for elite) and a 10% accuracy bonus.2

Tips

  • Melee void is still very useful against Corporeal Beast because it has positive magic defence while most melee armor has negative magic defence, which matters because Corp hits often and hard with magic.5
  • Ranged void gives a large damage boost and is powerful when not on task, but has terrible accuracy and is only good against targets with literally zero defence.6
  • A void helmet should have been brought for punching the judge in the mage run because it is free to bring.7
  • Void melee works on very tanky or high-defence bosses such as Vardorvis, Duke Sucellus and Tekton, because its accuracy matters more than the strength bonus it lacks.8
  • Void melee's lack of a cost means you can take extra accuracy from other slots, for example rings such as Bellator or Rancour; he says it makes sense that void is decent on Tekton while being bad everywhere else in the raid.9

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey considers the ranged void set by far the best set because ranged armor typically gives only accuracy and not a damage boost, making void ranger unique and useful in almost any ranged situation.10
  • Armadyl gives a larger accuracy bonus, so in niche cases against monsters with high defence it can provide more DPS, but Gnomonkey says void ranger is the best general ranged armor for almost every situation.10
  • Gnomonkey says Bandos armor always yields more DPS than melee void because it gives a strength bonus.10
  • Gnomonkey thinks the magic void set is not very useful: elite gives only a 2.5% magic damage bonus and the 45% accuracy bonus typically does not help, since magic is usually used against monsters with level 1 magic and basically no defence.5
  • Gnomonkey says many people bring Void to chompy hunting, even the regular variant before completing the diary, but Void is really not worth using there.11
  • Gnomonkey thinks Void Ranger is probably the most useful Void outfit for Ranged because no ranged armour provides a damage bonus but Void does.2
  • Gnomonkey says Void is best in slot against anything with low defence, such as Vorkath or Slayer monsters, while blessed d'hide or Armadyl armour has a significantly higher accuracy bonus and is better against monsters with even slight ranged defence, such as Kree'arra, the Alchemical Hydra or brutal black dragons.12
  • Gnomonkey says melee and mage void have far lower max hits than the alternatives and are nearly useless.6
  • Gnomonkey says void melee is normally terrible but is the only melee armour, besides something like Oathplate, with good accuracy, so it can be a decent budget option on bosses like Vardorvis, Muspah, or sometimes Duke Sucellus if you are very inaccurate.13
