Requirements

Methods
- To reach the mine, teleport to Theatre of Blood with the Drakan's medallion and talk to the Vyrewatch by the bank, who offers to send you to the mines. Talk to a Vyre in the mines while wearing the Vyre noble outfit to be released immediately, then crawl through the northern wall and walk down the stairs just inside Darkmire.2
- There are three Daeyalt essence mining spots in the mine, and one at a time lights up to show it is mineable, similar to the essence blocks in Zeah runecrafting.2
- Daeyalt shards are handed in to an NPC in the corner of the essence mine, who sends all of the shards to your bank as essence.3
Stats and numbers
- Daeyalt essence used for runecrafting provides 50% more XP than normal essence.4
- ZMI gives 170% more XP per essence, and this stacks multiplicatively with Daeyalt essence's 50% for 255% more XP per essence, which Gnomonkey describes as about an 85% increase from Daeyalt essence at ZMI rather than the regular 50%.4
- More than 4,000 Daeyalt essence an hour can be mined, which in Gnomonkey's testing lasted about an hour and a half of ZMI.1
- A lit Daeyalt essence pillar can typically be mined for about 30 seconds before it jumps to another pillar and you have to move to it.5
- Gnomonkey tested a black pickaxe and found it significantly slower than a dragon pickaxe at mining Daeyalt essence, so a better pickaxe gives better rates; he is unsure whether mining level also matters but thinks it likely does.5
- Each successful mine gives two to three Daeyalt essence, and with a dragon pickaxe Gnomonkey received about 4,000 essence an hour without mining perfectly, so rates could be a bit higher.5
- Compared with pure essence at ZMI, Daeyalt essence gives somewhat less total XP an hour, less total profit from runecrafting, and half the pet chance.3
Tips
- Daeyalt essence is stackable, so only one free inventory space is needed while mining it.6
- Gnomonkey recommends wearing the Prospector's outfit for the very small mining XP bonus at the Daeyalt essence mine, but says it is by no means necessary.6
- Gems can be received while mining Daeyalt essence, and wearing a charged amulet of glory increases the rate at which they are received, so he also brings a gem bag.6
- This route through Darkmire is also the fastest way to reach the lab for the new Blood Altar spot.2
Gnomonkey's opinion
- Gnomonkey considers Daeyalt ZMI an incredibly good option for early Ironman builds, since it can be tough to get essence early on an Ironman.1
- Gnomonkey thinks the downsides of Daeyalt essence are worth accepting to make early runecrafting more tolerable if you are doing ZMI anyway.3
