Noxious halberd is an item topic that Gnomonkey covers in 3 videos between 2024-06-19 and 2025-05-07. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.

Requirements

  • On an Iron Man the Noxious halberd has a slayer requirement, so Gnomonkey says you will probably want to do some Zulrah before you get it, though he says some Irons who have already done Araxxor before Zulrah may already have it.1

Stats and numbers

  • The Noxious halberd is a 5-tick halberd with 142 strength bonus and 132 slash bonus.2
  • Gnomonkey's calcs at Vardorvis and Theatre of Blood show the Noxious halberd sits between the Tent Whip and the Saeldor for DPS, which he sums up as basically a Saeldor with extra range.3
  • The Noxious halberd inflicts venom with a 33% chance, rising to 50% with a Serpentine helm.3
  • Its special attack costs 60% of the spec meter, cures your current venom or poison and increases your next attack's slash damage and accuracy by the percent of the poison damage that would have been taken.3
  • On its own the Noxious halberd is already well over the damage cap on Zulrah, so higher max hit from upgraded gear matters less.4

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey calls the Noxious halberd mediocre and one of the biggest disappointments, saying its venom is contradictory with the Serpentine helm and that no boss in the game is non-immune to venom, so venom only adds flavour.5
  • Gnomonkey says the halberd's special attack is maybe five times worse than a single Void Waker even in the best circumstances and costs more spec energy.5
  • Gnomonkey suggests cutting the halberd's special attack cost to around 25% to keep it usable for curing poison on strange account builds, but says even then it would not be a good spec.6
  • Gnomonkey says the halberd's extra tile of range would let you do Verzik P2 without Verzik walking and might give early hits on Bloat, which are the uses suggested in the blog (Verzik P2 and avoiding burning teammates at Ohm, as transcribed), but he does not see them as relevant.6
  • Gnomonkey hopes the Noxious halberd pieces are not as rare as something like the Soulreaper axe.7
  • Gnomonkey says the Noxious halberd gives solid DPS across all Zulrah phases and would be a good option for people who love Bofa camping; he says it is a bit worse than the Bofa on blue phase.8
  • Gnomonkey says Chally specs are also very strong at Zulrah since you can spec on red as she goes underwater without losing many ticks, and that it is a much better camping setup than Twisted bow camping.9
  • Gnomonkey says the Noxious halberd is cheap and very easy to get, and that it beats a Twinflame staff plus Bofa setup while costing less than a Bofa setup.10
  • Gnomonkey says players with giga-max gear such as full Torva who want to pet hunt would still find the Noxious halberd the best option for simple camping, though switches with a Twisted bow and Harmonised staff would be much better for DPS.11
  • Gnomonkey says no more Twisted bow camp or Shadow camp: the Noxious halberd is the new thing for relaxed Zulrah PvM.12
  • Gnomonkey says the Noxious halberd's special attack is terrible and does no damage, so never use it; a Dragon halberd spec is better and the Crystal halberd spec is best.13
  • Gnomonkey says Oathplate will be better than Torva for this setup once it releases, and says he is hyped for the Yama update the following week.14
