Oathplate armour is a melee armour set from Yama. Gnomonkey considers it endgame armour that knocks out the whole progression of Bandos and Torva, which he does not think is healthy, and he worries it could be repeated with other new boss drops.5 He completed the Radiant Oathplate kit in May 2025, and by October 2025 describes it as fairly easy to obtain in the grand scheme and as completely devaluing Torva.67

Radiant Oathplate kit

Gnomonkey completed the kit as the world's 6th player, after a roughly 20 hour stream (twenty and a half hours of stream for all the contracts).68 He calls it one of the hardest challenges in the game at release.6 The launch had many issues, including contracts being impossible to complete without hotfixes.6 He says 6th is good enough, calls himself a D tier PvMer and will not make a guide on these contracts.6 On finishing he tried the armour on with a Torva helmet and a Zek helmet and thought he was third to finish unless someone had snuck in.9 On one kill he received a dossier and the Oathplate Acquisition contract, which guarantees a piece.1

Drop rates and grind

At Yama's release a 30% nerf was applied to the rare drop rates, from roughly one in 400 per piece to one in 600.2 In solo, any piece is about 1 in 200 per kill (three pieces at one in 600 each), and the rates are doubled for duo.3 Shards drop 12 per kill solo and 6 in duo, and 450 shards forge any piece; at one in 17, that is about 620 kills to get another shot at a piece.3

He estimates about 12 kills per hour in very good gear, so around 50 hours for full Oathplate, or 60 to 70 hours for a weaker player.10 He says this is close to how long Bandos armour takes and too short, that Oathplate is far too common even after the nerf, and that it needs another nerf to somewhere over 100 hours.10 A grind like this would make sense for something like Phosani's Nightmare (long eight-minute kills, constant one-shots, harmonised orb at one in 300), but not Yama.11

Prices and market effects

In May 2025 a piece was worth around 90 million gp.1 Bandos chestplate fell from 25 million to 20 million and Torva platebody from 400 million in September 2024 to 270 million.12 On 5 June he said the Oathplate price was crashing from panic selling, but after about 10 hours of the content the price went steadily up while contracts dropped; he thinks the contract values are based on speculation, and that contracts affect Oathplate value by at most 5-10% even if the whole community becomes perfect. He still wants a nerf because it was already common.1314 By October he says Torva has dropped a ton in value and is outclassed by Oathplate almost everywhere, with really no reason to get Torva and he would rather Oathplate not be a direct upgrade.77

Versus other armour

The barrier to entry is low because Emberlight, not Scythe or Shadow, is best in slot, and synapses cost about 70 million, the lowest cost for a BIS weapon on any boss.4 Oathplate is better than Torva about 80% of the time because melee is mostly slash, leaving Torva mainly for Tombs of Amascut and the Torva helmet for maintaining max hits with the scythe.15 He says the integrity of melee armour is ruined until the next best-in-slot melee armour, which could be three to five years away, and that Bandos and Nex-type armour have effectively been killed.16

Contract statistics

As of 5 June 2025 Gnomonkey had 47 pieces in his collection log, a success rate over 90% on Oathplate contracts and a best streak of around 20.17 His best contract kill time was 5:50 and worst 9:10, with about 500m gp/hr profit, and it took him about three days and 50-100 contracts to learn.17
