Judge of Yama is a mechanic topic that Gnomonkey covers in 3 videos between 2025-05-14 and 2025-05-15. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.
Methods
- Gnomonkey recommends being in mage for the Judge because you can hit it on the rocks on the way to it; the Judge phase needs one melee and one mage.1
- During the Judge phase, he swaps styles like a Tormented Demon, so the player must alternate melee and mage each attack.2
- The Judge fires skulls at the player's current location, and standing under him makes the skulls hit him for damage, like Araxxor step-unders, so stepping under and switching gives bonus damage.3
- After the Judge phase the specials are boosted into huge attacks; they are blocked the same way by stepping on the glyph tile but are more punishing if mistimed.4
- Waves in the fight take off the player's prayer, and the meteor turns off run so the player must be close to the glyph before it starts and cannot control-click like at Tormented Demons.5
Tips
- The Judge's own attack can hurt itself: if you step under it while attacking, it hits itself with its skulls for extra damage.6
- You can pre-switch and mage the Judge once you reach the stone to hit a bit early; its skulls land on the ground where you stand like Tormented Demons, so step aside.7
- Stepping underneath the Judge when it shoots a skull makes the skull damage the Judge itself, a minor time save.8
- Gnomonkey advises eating when you reach the Judge if low on health, since there is downtime.9
Trivia
- The Judge of Yama is a guaranteed hit; both players swap between mage and melee and share one health pool.10
- At each phase Yama sends you to a side area where jumps across stones can be done every tick and the Judge of Yama shoots fireballs you must dodge.11
- The Judge is a guaranteed max hit on the correct style, alternating strictly mage hit then melee hit with no threshold like demonic gorillas.11
