Stats and numbers

  • The new weapon from the quest is a one-handed melee weapon similar to the Dragon scimitar with decent slash and stab, slightly worse strength, one Prayer bonus and a four-tick attack speed.1
  • The new weapon's special attack is a 50% spec that performs a single attack with 50% increased accuracy and 50% increased damage and guarantees one stack of burn on a successful hit.1

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey considers the new burn weapon a decent mid-level spec option until Burning claws, and thinks the Dragon dagger-style weapon might still beat it depending on the target's defence.2
  • Gnomonkey sees the new melee weapon as a competitor to a de-skim-type weapon (as he describes it) and a decent mid-game or earlier special attack weapon that will be solid until you get something like Burning claws, comparing it to how the Dragon dagger is good in some places.3

Events

  • The Varlamore: Final Dawn update includes a new quest (like Tombs of Amascut has) that unlocks a new weapon and the Doom of Mokhaiotl encounter.1
  • Jagex said the new melee weapon from the Final Dawn quest will only work as a slash weapon, so a requested stab weapon is something it is open to working on in the future.4
  • Jagex said that as the Varlamore arc closes it plans to bring more burn effects to the game, and it is removing the area-of-effect portion of the new weapon's special attack.3
  • Jagex reduced the special attack cost of the new Final Dawn melee weapon.3
