Stats and numbers

  • The Diabolical Aegis is a new two-handed demonbane crush weapon with four-tick attack speed, double hit splats, and a passive that resets your attack delay if you land the killing blow on a demonic enemy.1
  • The Diabolical Aegis has a Demon ward effect giving 25% damage reduction against demons, and Gnomonkey cites stats of 75 strength, 95 crush attack and solid defence.2
  • The Demon bane aegis, per Gearscape calcs Gnomonkey cites, is extremely similar to Emberlight in max gear.3
  • The aegis has a 25% damage reduction, which Gnomonkey says would be a huge buff against bosses like Abyssal Sire, Cerberus and Tormented Demons even at the same DPS as Emberlight.4

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey considers the Diabolical Aegis a niche side-grade that doesn't slot into the game well, since Emberlight is amazing at Tormented Demons, Sire and Cerberus, and says he will wait for Gearscape calcs.5
  • Gnomonkey notes Emberlight scales heavily with strength bonus (roughly 13 strength bonus, with each strength bonus almost a max hit), whereas the aegis does not, so it matches Emberlight in max gear but is much better in gear like Bandos with a Faceguard.3
  • Gnomonkey describes the aegis as a better, upgraded Emberlight, though Emberlight would remain used where targets are only weak to stab or slash since the aegis is crush only.6
  • Gnomonkey thinks damage reduction is an interesting way to upgrade items, since everything added currently needs added DPS or accuracy, and he would like to see it on more unusual items.6
  • Gnomonkey says the aegis is not exactly the type of item he would like dropped, but it fits the game and came out better than he expected.7
