Methods
- Gnomonkey sets his Trident to 75 charges for the run using his calculator, by uncharging it and dropping the rest of the fire runes and extra brews on the ground.1
Stats and numbers
- The Trident of the swamp costs about 4.1M and gives about a 15% DPS increase over a Trident of the seas, plus a chance to inflict venom.2
- The regular trident costs about 450k GP an hour to use and the toxic trident about 750k GP an hour.3
- The Trident of the swamp is about a 15% DPS increase through about +4 max hit, and can venom the target.4
- The Sanguinesti staff raises max hit by only 1 over the Trident of the swamp, about 2.5% more DPS, but it heals you; it costs much more to use at about 1.8m GP an hour.4
Tips
- Gnomonkey uses a Trident for the budget setup and says a Sanguinesti staff is better if you have one: Sanguinesti has a one in six chance to heal for half of what it hits, and it hits for 32, healing 16 on both casts on the Berserker.5
- Every mage weapon can store the extra rune needed: the Trident holds death and fire runes, the Sanguinesti staff holds blood runes and the Tumeken's shadow holds soul runes, so no inventory slot is wasted.5
- For a Trident of the seas, Gnomonkey notes that as long as you can grab the fire runes it works the same; he says it is not worth it if you cannot recharge after uncharging, since you lose a whole slot.6
Gnomonkey's opinion
- Gnomonkey says the Trident of the swamp is usually a better choice than the Sanguinesti staff except for raiding or Dagannoth Kings.7
- Gnomonkey says the extra 300k GP an hour for the Trident of the swamp needs you to make at least 2m GP an hour to be worth it, so it is almost always worth using over the regular trident.4
- Gnomonkey would still use the Trident of the swamp in group Chambers of Xeric where the extra healing is rarely needed, but the Sanguinesti staff's healing could be the difference maker in the Theatre of Blood or solo Chambers of Xeric.4
