Scroll box is an item topic that Gnomonkey covers in 1 video on 2025-04-08. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.

Stats and numbers

  • Under the Poll 84 proposal, the maximum is five scroll boxes held at once, or four plus one open clue scroll, so a player cannot overstock to six.1
  • Under the proposed scroll box progression, the base capacity for each clue tier is two clues.2
  • Under the proposal, the first cap increase raises capacity for that tier to three clues and the second raises it to four; Gnomonkey calls this stingy.3
  • The proposed capacity bonus from defeating the mimic is retroactive, so players who already killed the mimic receive the plus one immediately.3

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says the scroll box system is technically weaker than clue juggling, which allows unlimited clues, but argues it is a bigger nerf than Jagex lets on because steps are no longer maintained across the pile of clues.4
  • Gnomonkey notes that Jagex's blog talks only about the quantity of clues that can be held and not about step progress being maintained, and he finds that omission odd given how important it is to juggling.5
  • Gnomonkey says a hard clue doer who could hold many clues before the update could hold only two hard clues at a time after it, which he describes as a nerf, and that this does not solve anything such as slayer tasks that give six or seven hard clues.6
  • Gnomonkey says that if progression is needed, it should apply to all clue tiers equally rather than via the per-tier chart.7
