Summary
Gnomonkey presents the Gridlock Gambit, a method for completing Yama's Contract of Oathplate Acquisition that he developed with Saxer Pillar. He explains the fight mechanics (ragging meteors, halved healing, void flares), why dropping every meteor on the glyph's centre tile makes it possible, the risk of losing a 60-70 mil contract, and his results, and addresses fears that it crashes the Oathplate price.

Topics covered
Yama contracts
- (0:00) Contract of Oathplate Acquisition costs roughly 60 to 70 mil gp per attempt, guarantees a piece of Oathplate, and the contract is lost on death.
- (0:00) Gnomonkey calls Oathplate acquisition contracts the best moneymaker in PvM, likely forever, and the closest thing PvMers have to a high-risk death match.
- (0:26) Gnomonkey says the Oathplate contract is roughly as hard as a hard mode Theatre of Blood solo Nylocas and expects most players will not be capable of it even with massive profit.
- (0:57) Gnomonkey says for every eight pieces of Oathplate dropped, one contract drops, and many go to ironmen who cannot do it and will death coffer them.
- (1:19) The Oathplate contract fight is the same as the Worm contract: meteors drop through the entire fight; Yama has beefed up stats and in the final phase there are sets of five meteors instead of three, with waves the same as the Radiant contract.
- (1:19) On the Oathplate contract Yama constantly spawns four void flares that deal 70 damage if not caught in time, and all healing and prayer restoration for the fight is halved, including Pernix and SGS specs.
- (1:19) The difference on the expensive contracts is that the centre meteor rags a tile, similar to re-entry for the Horn and Oath contracts.
- (4:12) Gnomonkey says the method is not the key to the general population completing the contract but it is technically possible, and a very good player with a contract on an iron could do it at the cost of a ton of practice time.
Gridlock Gambit
- (1:50) The ragging meteors cannot rag the glyphs and instead rag a random tile outside the glyph, so if you can do the entire fight inside a glyph, ragging is not a problem.
- (2:00) The Gridlock Gambit was devised by Saxer Pillar and Gnomonkey: Sax found the base dodging pattern and Gnomonkey labbed out most of the cells within the grid.
- (2:00) Meteors come in a vertical and horizontal variation rotating clockwise, and there are three wave patterns, one of which forms an axe outside of the glyph; waves can also scuff and hit a tick early at random, giving technically 24 variations of patterns to dodge.
- (2:24) If you always drop a meteor on the centre tile of the glyph, it is always possible to dodge the meteors within the glyph; the rare exception is a vertical meteor spawn with the giga waves, where you step out of the grid for one tick and come back in, which works because Yama does not drop meteors at that time.
- (2:24) When Yama drops meteors right after the non-wave void flares, you must dodge in the opposite direction to avoid scuffed waves, making muscle memory harder.
- (2:56) Gnomonkey says the solves for all variations have different timings that must be memorised and perfected, and calls this some of the hardest and by far the riskiest content he has ever done in the game.
- (3:05) Ways to die on an Oathplate contract per Gnomonkey: dropping a meteor on a non-centre tile; red X dragging to Yama; tanking a wave (it drops your prayer and you get hit the same tick); yellow-clicking past a void flare; not clicking a void flare; or forgetting which glyph to go to early.
- (3:05) Tanking an off-prayer hit on an Oathplate contract costs about half your food, according to Gnomonkey.
Oathplate armour
- (0:26) Gnomonkey says Oathplate price was crashing because people were panic selling, but when he did the content for about 10 hours the price went steadily up while contracts dropped in price; he thinks the contract values are based on speculation.
- (0:57) Gnomonkey says contracts affect Oathplate value by at most 5-10% even if the whole community becomes perfect, but he would still like to see Oathplate nerfed because it was already common.
- (3:35) As of the video Gnomonkey had 47 pieces of Oathplate in his collection log, his success rate on Oathplate contracts was over 90%, and his best win streak was around 20 in a row.
- (3:35) The video description states Gnomonkey's best Oathplate contract kill time was 5:50 and worst 9:10, with about 500m gp/hr profit, and that it took him about three days and 50-100 different contracts to learn.
Gnomonkey
- (0:00) Gnomonkey says he saw Noob Type streaming a rough version of this method while he was trying to make his bag first, and decided it was the right time to release the video.
- (3:12) Gnomonkey says it is easy to lose a couple of contracts in a row and start throwing, so he always takes a break after two failed attempts.
- (3:52) Gnomonkey credits Pure Spam for loaning him gp to buy contracts, Synq for lending him an Eldritch nightmare staff (important for the method), Sax for figuring out the method, and his wife (Hedron) for in-fight callouts.
