Requirements

Methods

  • At the start of the Draken fight he throws rapid spear jabs and the arrows telegraph the direction to dodge; you dodge in the opposite direction of the one forecast (for example left, right, left).2
  • When Draken does punches ending in a giant burst of energy into himself, you click on him to move forward through the big ring AoE instead of dodging backwards.3
  • Draken's special stab animation (rearing back) is an AoE in front of and behind him, so you dodge to the side; he always throws a jab afterwards, and Gnomonkey thinks later in the fight he can do two.4
  • Draken's second special AoE curls the spear behind him in a sweeping arc around him, with the area directly behind him safe, so you run around behind him to dodge it.5
  • After the portal phase Draken pops back into the arena with four hit splats on him as he drains his own blood to fire at you; you must immediately put on Protect from Magic, as this is basically the only one-shot mechanic in the fight.6
  • If you dodge the series of punches after the blood-drain attack perfectly (left, right, left), Draken takes a massive hit splat (155 in the footage) and the portals disappear immediately; if you mess up a punch you do not get the splat and must do another set of waves.7
  • Later in the fight Draken occasionally throws in a mage attack, visible as blood behind him; you have about two or three ticks to react and switch on Protect from Magic to block it. Gnomonkey believes it heals Draken if it hits you.8
  • In the lightning phase Draken does a sweep with a red flash then a dash towards you; since he always sweeps in a 90-degree arc out of the way, you can dodge by clicking in the direction you immediately see him on your screen.9
  • Below 10% health, which Gnomonkey says is basically nothing, you can pretty much face-tank the whole phase and just spam brews while Draken throws very fast rapid jabs.10

Stats and numbers

  • Gnomonkey thinks Draken only starts using his two special AoE attacks below about 80% health.11
  • Below roughly 70% health, Draken dashes away and spawns blood portals that send out waves.11

Tips

  • Draken flashes red as the cue to start clicking through the dodges rapidly for his basic punch attack.12
  • He died the first time to Draken's blood-drain magic attack because he did not pray mage in time.7
  • In the lightning phase you can get two perfect punish sets (a smaller splat, 80 in the footage) because Draken does the sweep attack twice, so a perfect run finishes the fight faster.13
  • Draken does not care if blood is in your way and will make you dash right into it; the blood takes your prayer off and does about 20 damage per game tick, so rotate around the boss between attacks to avoid being forced into blood.14
  • An alternative dodge Gnomonkey credits to MMORPG: if you panic run backwards you are out of the AoE, Draken only steps forward one tile, and you can dodge the next sweep if it goes in the correct direction.15
  • For the blood wave attack and Draken's swoop dashes, dodge in straight cardinal lines only, with no diagonal steps, because diagonal movement may stop him from dashing.16

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey considers Loerniel Draken, the final boss of Blood Moon Rises, the hardest quest boss in the entire game, and says many people are struggling with him.17

Events

  • After about 800 health has been chunked from Draken, he sweeps away and lightning strikes start spawning blood pools on the ground.18
  • You cannot refight Draken after stepping out of the arena.19
