Contents

Methods

  • To shield flick Zulrah, put your shield on right as her animation starts, because the damage is calculated as soon as her animation starts.1

Stats and numbers

  • The Crystal shield has -10 mage accuracy bonus, and removing it against a nibbler only raises accuracy from 96.39% to 96.69%, a 0.3% difference that Gnomonkey says is irrelevant.2
  • The Crystal shield deflects roughly 25% of the total ranged damage coming at you during the mage phase at Zulrah.3

Tips

  • A common mistake is taking the Crystal shield off for 0.3% mage accuracy on early waves and then carrying that habit through every wave, ending up never using it; he says to keep it equipped if you are maging.4
  • The Crystal shield is optional and very easy for Irons to get, and shield flicking it makes kills quite a bit harder to do, so skip it if intimidating.3
  • Putting on the Crystal shield right after Zulrah attacks lets you use the atlatl every time since both have the same attack speed.5

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says Ellie (Elidinis' ward) is an upgrade to the Crystal shield but the Crystal shield is almost exactly the same, so you do not need to wait for an Ellie.6
  • Gnomonkey says shield flicking on mage phases is sweaty and not required, but reduces damage a lot and makes longer trips more likely.7
