Tombs of Amascut gear setup covers how Gnomonkey equips himself for the Tombs of Amascut (ToA) at different budgets and raid levels. His 2022 setup uses seven ways for each combat style, and notes that each ranged switch is a max hit salted.1 Later videos adapt the same ideas to a high-end Shadow setup (2024), a cheaper 300 setup (2024), a Bow of Faerdhinen setup (2025) and an Eye of Ayak setup (2026).8945 A recurring theme is that every switch should buy a max hit, and that spec weapons and the Osmumten's fang matter more than minor items.1011312
Core principles
- Osmumten's fang: called the most powerful weapon in his inventory for the raid in 2024, when it cost about 13 mil.3 In 2025 he says it is desperately needed and he would not recommend doing ToA as a main without one; it then cost roughly 20 to 30 million gp.12
- Boots: Eternal boots and Pegasian boots are an absolute waste of space in ToA, since both are sub 1% DPS increases in the rooms where they are used (2022).10 In 2024 he nonetheless camps eternal boots, while the budget setup uses dragon boots.111314
- Boss order: melee-heavy bosses go first because melee benefits less from Salt than Tumeken's shadow or the Twisted bow do, as it gets a much smaller max hit increase.15
- Zebak: with Pathseeker he has a 1 in 6 chance of being level 4 by the third room, and Gnomonkey wants to keep him below level 4 if possible.10
- Thralls: usually 5 to 10 percent of DPS and matter more with weak gear, so he tells beginners to bring them rather than Barrage, since the monkey room is easy these days.1617 A 2025 figure puts thralls at 0.625 DPS, about two thirds DPS on every boss, saving several minutes, and a 2026 figure says one to two minutes.1819 Aether runes from Yama count as both soul and cosmic runes, giving thralls and Death charge for free; double Death charge is very good, though in the 500 setup it does not do much.202119 He does not need Blood barrage and recommends double Death charge.20
- Blood fury: he camps Lightbearer and Blood fury with max melee in 2022.1 Strongly recommended while learning because it negates Akkha's chip damage and recovers mistakes; Torture and Rancour are alternatives.14 Without a Keris he strongly recommends it because it prevents using brews in every room before the Wardens; the six brews are all needed for the Wardens.22
- Lightbearer: cheap, lets him spam specs without hurting melee DPS much.14
High-end Shadow setup (2022 and 2024)
The 2022 inventory includes Yellow Kiris, a Toxic blowpipe and 5 restores; to flick heavily he suggests a Zaryte crossbow instead of claws with 4 restores. The rest is runes and the book, a small stack of chinchompas, a divine super combat and a rapier for P2 of the Warden.110
The Bandos godsword is hugely important for solos: it can re-spec bosses on a miss and can hit the core on final hits, making it better than the Bone dagger despite how much he liked the dagger.1
The 2024 Shadow setup melees in crystal armour with a one-way Bow of Faerdhinen: Shadow on Zebak and Akkha, melee on Ba-Ba and Kephri, Shadow on everything in the Wardens, and range only in phase 2.2
- Compared with a Mixed hide plus blowpipe setup, the Bow of Faerdhinen with top, bottom, gloves and Blood fury is much better on the Wardens' phase 2; the Mixed hide setup is about 30% worse but close enough to still succeed.823
- A Voidwaker would be massive and is great for the core; without it, a dragon dagger special guarantees three down.2425
- The Bandos godsword is only used on Ba-Ba and could be dropped; it works poorly on Kephri but can still land at about 30% accuracy.26
- The Torva helm, switches, Ferocious gloves, Zaryte vambraces, Assembler, Crystal helm and Anguish are all max hits; he thinks even a two-way with vambraces and Pharaoh's gloves beats other range switches.11
- Virtus is really bad for the Shadow: replacing Ancestral loses five max hits and the Shadow multiplies max hits tremendously, so the full Ancestral set is required.27
- Chinchompas catch Kephri's swarms and clear the monkey room faster, but two fewer Sanfew serums means eleven.25 He brings four Sanfew serums for a money run (three if feeling spicy) and thinks ten is enough.28
- The whole setup costs about two billion flat, mostly the Shadow, plus an Avernic defender.6
- Without a Bow of Faerdhinen, a regular ranging potion is needed to kill the Ba-Ba boulders; it barely gets the needed max hit with Rigor, and the blowpipe may need to be on accurate.6
Budget 300 setup (2024)
- Armour: Blue Moon armour instead of melee armour, because it has a strength bonus and noticeable crush defence for tanking Baba's punches.9 A Serpentine helm is fairly tanky and protects against venom; a Neitiznot faceguard is a good later purchase.13 He wears anti-poison at all times with it, and a Phosani's-style upgrade can serve as anti-poison.1316
- One-way gear: Amulet of fury, Barrows gloves also as ranging gloves, Fire cape and dragon boots.13
- Ranged: blowpipe with Barrows gloves and an assembler, plus a crossbow, and a dragon dagger for the Warden core.29
- Magic: Trident of the swamp (must be charged), imbued mage cape, Book of the Dead offhand and occult necklace.3
- Cost: about 65 mil (first read as 70 mil, and later described as roughly 70 mil).7
Bow of Faerdhinen setup (2025)
The Bow of Faerdhinen is super good in ToA, the best DPS on Akkha in this setup, and is used on Zebak and in the monkey room.4 It costs about 200 million for the ranged setup (180 million for the Bofa itself, against about 25 million for an Atlatl).4 For players without the money, the Atlatl is a super cheap and good option, with a separate guide planned.30
- Blowpipe: brought for utility rather than raw DPS: guaranteed max hits in the monkey room and parts of Baba, tagging Kephri's swarms and shooting Akkha's shadows.31
- Magic: a simple Trident of the swamp with occult necklace, imbued god cape and tormented bracelet, with a Book of the Dead as the offhand for thralls.18
- Armour: Blue moon acts as both strength and mage armour (equal to Ancestral for magic), though it is thin.32
- Supplies: brews, restores, a divine ranging potion and a divine super combat, both used at Kephri.20
Setups by raid level (2025)
| Raid level | Setup |
|---|---|
| 150 | Both Overclocked invocations on to prepare for Insanity; he does not think 150s should be done without both. Aerial Assault and On a Diet are trickiest, since crunchy bugs cannot be eaten on death; Blue moon hybrid gear leaves space for supplies.3334 |
| 200 | More Warden invocations, which are simple and speed up the fight; learn Mind the Gap early, since it is required at higher levels and only requires staying near the room edges.35 |
| 300 | Comfortable with a faster Warden. Insanity is a must, being 50 points to avoid higher boss invocations or fewer supplies. Alternatively keep Walk the Path on, but bosses are stronger and many Warden invocations, Baba and Aerial Assault must be turned on.3637 |
| 350 | Insanity and Walk the Path, timer on, Softcore on, all Warden invocations.38 |
| 450 | Adds Pathfinder (some level 4 bosses), both Baba invocations and all Warden invocations; a second example uses Pathseeker and Keep Back. With a yellow Keris, Dehydration (30 points) can replace annoying boss invocations like Boulder Dash.3940 |
| 500 | Dehydration a must, timer off, Double Trouble on. A variant without Double Trouble uses Overly Draining, which makes raids much longer and loses a Keris at phase 4 Warden. Without a yellow Keris it can be done without Dehydration, but everything else including Overly Draining and Keep Back must be on.4142 |
500 setup
- Armour: Blue moon hybrid, saving about three slots, because melee DPS matters little in the two rooms he melees (Baba, which no longer hurts through prayer, and Kephri).43
- Ranged: Bow of Faerdhinen with Assembler (max cape), since Warden phase 4 is the hardest part and he wants the most ranged DPS.44
- Core: a whip hits the core in Warden phase 2 because Overly Draining is on (a four down), with a basic mage swap used only in phase 2.45
- Bandos godsword over Bone dagger: better when forced to use ranged damage on the Warden; specced on phases 1, 3 and 4 and used to last-hit the core in phase 2.21 The Bone dagger was not fixed against Kephri in the update; developers said they would try but did not figure out how.46
- Supplies: six brews (to tank orbs in phase 1 and all of phase 2), seven Sandfew potions, a prayer regeneration potion (about two Sandfews, used throughout), a Bandos godsword and a divine super combat for Kephri.45
- Pre-pot: prayer regeneration, extended anti-venom, two divines and stamina.47
Eye of Ayak setup (2026)
- Weapons: Toxic blowpipe for utility, swarms and the monkey room; Bow of Faerdhinen as the main ranged weapon for Zebak and the Wardens; Eye of Ayak as the main magic weapon.5
- The Eye is close to the Tumeken's shadow but not quite as good, because the Shadow's bonus is multiplied by four; it is a little better than the Bow of Faerdhinen on Akkha and the Wardens.5
- Armour and supplies: Virtus (Blue Moon also good), five restores (one a Sanfew serum), three brews, a divine super combat, Burning claws as the special weapon, and a dragon dagger for the core.48 He checks that the Virtus mask actually gives a max hit; otherwise it is not brought.49 Oathplate is a not-too-expensive option with the same strength, slightly worse defence that mostly does not matter, a higher Bandos godsword landing rate and more accurate Burning claws spam at the Wardens.50
- Burning claws or Voidwaker: Burning claws give better DPS up to about raid level 375, while the Voidwaker is better above that and can hit the core.48
- Bandos godsword is used on Ba-Ba, Kephri and Zebak; a Bone dagger is slightly worse because it cannot be re-specced, but it is guaranteed to hit as an opening spec and still drains levels.51
- Ava's assembler saves darts and gives the Bofa a max hit.49
- A Surge potion adds little DPS with weak spec weapons and no Zaryte crossbow, so it is optional.52
- Pre-pot: stamina, divine super combat, divine ranging (or regular ranging) and prayer regeneration, since the monkey room uses a lot of prayer. Extended anti-venom lasts from Ba-Ba into Kephri, so the Sanfew can be skipped.5354
