Requirements

  • Hedron recommends a Sailing level of 80 to 85 for the Maw of Whispers island, because it is tied to an endgame boss and she wanted something for players who had levelled Sailing that high.1

  • Hedron made the hard mode variant so that more of the community could do a normal mode boss and still feel rewarded.3
  • Hedron deliberately did not detail the Maw's mechanics publicly, so that if Jagex used the boss there would be mystery and a day-one scramble to figure it out; she did submit a document fleshing out the phases with the island.4
  • Hedron suggests Jagex could either attach a coral handle to the existing Ghrazi rapier to keep it relevant, or retire the Ghrazi rapier and make the Maw rapier the new rapier; she hoped it would have a bleed mechanic.5
  • Hedron says the reward space did not have to be special: ideas include permanent character buffs such as a crystal that increases water elemental damage, or a new magic amulet.6
