Methods

  • Sulphur nagas have negative four flat armour, so each hit splat dealt to them takes an extra four damage; with a two-hit weapon like the Dual macuahuitl the minimum hit is five and every hit is boosted by four.1
  • Sulphur nagas have a prayer-draining special attack after a certain number of attacks, which Gnomonkey says you rarely see if you kill them fast, probably about once every ten kills at lower levels, and which drains about five prayer.2

Stats and numbers

  • Gnomonkey was getting about 120k Strength XP per hour training on sulphur nagas in the Moons of Peril area with fairly easy-to-get gear.3
  • Players in max gear with the Boppers and full Blood moon have reported around 175k XP per hour on sulphur nagas.4
  • Sulphur nagas drop a huge amount of chaos runes, a useful amount of nature runes and a good amount of death runes.5
  • Sulphur nagas also drop ores such as bulk silver, bulk iron and occasionally mithril, and rare hard clue scrolls.6

Tips

  • Sulphur nagas are aggressive, and the more AFK spot is the centre of the room, which has a more condensed spawn point.7
  • The Dragon dagger (DDS) special attack goes very hard on sulphur nagas and that Burning claws might be slightly better, though he has not tested whether the flat armour boost applies to all three hit splats.8
  • Sulphur nagas lose aggro and you have to reset them like crabs, roughly every ten minutes.9
  • You can train ranged on sulphur nagas with a blowpipe or an MSB for up to about 200k XP per hour but he thinks Chinchompas would be probably better.9
  • On a hardcore ironman, sulphur nagas hit in two splats (a max of five and then six) and a Ring of life procs on the first splat, so Gnomonkey says you cannot die there.10
