Requirements

  • Dagannoth have no requirements to attack, but Horror from the Deep is needed to fight them optimally in the Lighthouse and Dwarf Cannon is needed to use the cannon.1

Methods

  • To start a Dagannoth task, teleport to fairy ring code ALP, walk into the Lighthouse, enter the basement and set the cannon down on a specific tile while drinking a super combat potion and enabling piety.2

Stats and numbers

  • You can easily hit 80k Slayer XP an hour on Dagannoth tasks.1
  • Dagannoth seed drops almost pay for the cannonballs used on task, and lucky snapdragon seed drops can make the task profitable.1
  • Dagannoth have a weight of 9 from Duradel, so you will get them quite often.1
  • On that Dagannoth task Gnomonkey used almost a thousand cannonballs, costing about 170k, and received only one snapdragon seed, which he says is about average.3
  • From the seeds and unsired heads collected Gnomonkey made back about 100k on the Dagannoth task.3
  • Dagannoth have decent seed drops that can pay for cannonballs if you get lucky, and give pretty good combat XP.4

Tips

  • Without Bandos armour Dagannoth can hit quite hard, so Gnomonkey suggests bringing decent Barrows armour or extra prayer potions and praying melee.5
  • Gnomonkey suggests downgrading primordial boots to dragon boots, ferocious gloves to Barrows gloves and/or amulet of torture to amulet of fury if short on money.5
  • Gnomonkey recommends Ironmen or players not using a cannon fight Dagannoth in the Catacombs of Kourend, where they can give totem pieces and ancient shards, there are many of them, and it avoids being crashed by cannoners at the Lighthouse.5
  • The Dagannoth drop many unsired heads, and Gnomonkey lost about 20k because he forgot to bring a soul bearer to teleport the heads back.6
  • Gnomonkey advises avoiding the Dagannoth task on mobile because it is hard to spot snapdragon seeds and the large piles of drops.2
  • Most of the damage on a Dagannoth task comes from the cannon, which is constantly firing.2
  • On a Dagannoth task you can choose to fight the Dagannoth Kings, which Gnomonkey says are very good money depending on setup and definitely worth it if you want the pets; he says Dagannoth are always worth doing.4
