Requirements

  • Regular trolls have no requirements, but ice trolls need The Fremennik Isles to access them and to use a Neitiznot faceguard.1

Methods

  • To reach the ice trolls, get to Relleka (lyre teleport, house teleport, or a house tablet to the Relleka portal, or Fremennik sea boots 4 with the elite Fremennik diary), take the boat to Jatizso, run through the gates, and set the cannon on a specific tile.2

Stats and numbers

  • Ice trolls give about 50k Slayer XP an hour, along with 75k combat XP an hour and 50k ranged XP an hour.1
  • Ice trolls have decent alchable drops in granite shields and rune warhammers, which can in some cases cover the cost of cannonballs.1
  • On that task Gnomonkey received only one rune warhammer and no snapdragon or ranarr seeds, which he calls a fairly below-average run, though he still profited after cannonballs; he says on average you should at least break even.3
  • That ice troll task gave 12k Slayer XP, about 46k Slayer XP an hour, with 75k melee XP an hour and 50k ranged XP an hour.3

Tips

  • The Neitiznot faceguard tremendously reduces ice trolls' maximum hit and Gnomonkey says you will most likely die without it.1
  • Even with Bandos armour the melee trolls smash through your defences, so he uses protect from melee and piety for the whole task.2

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey calls troll tasks a classic staple and a great cannonable task.1

Records

  • A full task of 176 trolls took Gnomonkey about 17 minutes, using 550 cannonballs (about 90k) and giving about 120k gp in loot.3
