Stats and numbers

  • Gnomonkey recalls port tasks giving around 130k XP per hour.1
  • Jagex's table lists port tasks at 105% of pre-adjustment XP, but Gnomonkey disagrees, saying once you have the extractor they are about 95% of what they were at higher levels.2

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says he dislikes port tasks as a training method.3
  • Gnomonkey says that because the extractor nerf cut around 20k XP per hour from all Sailing methods, the port task buff is a slight net nerf for players who already had the extractor built, though levels 40 up to the extractor level were buffed.1
  • Gnomonkey thinks Jagex could have buffed port tasks and fleshed them out to be more interesting.4
  • Gnomonkey thinks port tasks need to be fleshed out rather than just given XP changes, saying there is a lot of untapped potential.2
  • Gnomonkey says port tasks are very basic (click from point A to point B, maybe trim sails or use charting to unlock rapids) and would feel much better with more things to do for XP without needing higher intensity.5
  • Gnomonkey says he has given Jagex mods ideas for fleshing out Sailing training methods but does not know if they will be used.5

Events

  • The Sailing week 2 update increased completion XP of all courier port tasks from level 40 and above by about 15%, aimed at levels 40-55 and 60-70 and at players in the 90s and beyond 99 working on Rosewood boat upgrades.3
