Requirements

  • Castle Wars has no requirements at all: no combat level, total level or quest points, and you can use the minigame teleport directly off Tutorial Island.1

Stats and numbers

  • You get one Castle Wars supply crate per ticket, with two tickets for a loss and four for a win, an average of about three crates per game.2
  • Each Castle Wars supply crate contains about 60k gp of loot, including blighted supplies, blood, death, nature and soul runes, rune javelins, rune arrows and coins.3
  • A game of Castle Wars gives a minimum of about 120k and a maximum of about 240k in loot.1
  • A Castle Wars game lasts 20 minutes with a 5-minute waiting period, so you get 2 to 4 crates every 25 minutes, and Gnomonkey says there is no way to end a game early.4
  • Buying five crates from four tickets gave almost 600 nature runes, 130 soul runes, 83 blood runes, hundreds of rune arrows and javelins, and blighted supplies, which he estimates at about 100k in rune arrows, 24k in soul runes and 24k in javelins and 150k gold plus natures.5

  • You can bring splashing gear and an air staff into Castle Wars and splash on people to gain Magic XP.6

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says the crates give a fresh ironman a huge early boost but he thinks the main issue is bots, not ironmen.1
  • Gnomonkey considers Castle Wars crate loot possibly better than Soul Wars loot because it is concentrated into valuable runes and alchables, but says you get less overall than from Soul Wars due to game length.4
  • Gnomonkey says a new account could go straight from Tutorial Island to Castle Wars for gp, buy runes with it and start splashing immediately, and he calls it bonkers that Jagex did not foresee this.7
