The Monkey Room is a room in the Tombs of Amascut before Baba. Gnomonkey calls it a puzzle room and in June 2025 said it was probably the hardest room of the raid, harder than the bosses, even though two waves had been removed.6 The goal is to get through with prayer left so that the following Baba fight needs zero prayer points and zero supplies.5 After Jagex's changes the room is much easier than it was, and by 28 June 2025 he called it a joke.78

Monsters

The red, green and blue baboons follow the combat triangle, and the correct style is a guaranteed max hit: melee the green, ranged the blue and mage the red, so one-way switches kill all of them.13

Monster Notes
Shaman Not one-shot in October 2024; each summons four thralls assigned to it before it starts maging, so chinning the pile stops the maging.91011 After the update shamans take guaranteed max hits from ranged: two blowpipe shots (50 health, the Bow of faerdhinen hits about 48, just short of a one-shot), or a two-shot with the Atlatl.3412
Thralls The small blue baboon thralls drain a little prayer if they hit; do not tank them or a clump of them, and step to the side.513714
Cursed baboon Leaves a venom trail that still hurts through a Serpentine helm, so do not run through it.2 Guaranteed max hit from ranged: killed with the Bow of faerdhinen, and the Atlatl one-shots them without Rigour even with Eagle Eye.312 After the July 2025 update shamans and cursed baboons have less health and a blowpipe can one-shot cursed baboons.15
Volatile baboon The red ones, killed with mage, walk up and explode, probably the main cause of deaths.216 They also blow up other monkeys, which he uses to clear them; avoid them while learning and use their volleys later.21617
Throttles Spinning attackers; avoiding them matters because a lot of prayer is wasted there.18

Strategy

Setup: on entering, drop three potions (brews on the entry tile), pray melee and grab a hammer, or enter in ranged gear without the Bow of faerdhinen equipped, drop potions, then equip the bow to tag monkeys. Pour the stinky potion into a vent when a skull is over it.1191620

  • Pray against the primary monster hitting you and change prayers as the next set spawns; melee is the default because thralls hit.2122 Spawned ranged baboons need ranged prayer and mages magic prayer.20
  • Camp ranged gear and swap to other styles whatever the setup. Gnomonkey swaps to fang with Piety for green monkeys and the trident for red, switching Piety and Rigour, never needing Augury; prayer one-way is enough to kill everything, and Piety is needed.2415
  • Kill shamans first, then the ranged baboon, leaving the melee baboon, and use volleys to clean up the last wave. This helps without chinchompas, which he otherwise uses (flicking lots of prayer).52317 The wave after the melee wave is the only one needing a tank, so go straight for the ranged baboon.23
  • In the first wave, melee monkeys are tagged with a trident, no prayer is needed against shamans, and Piety is needed to one-shot the big ones. With the Atlatl the only Rigour (or range prayer) need is the cursed baboons.2424
  • Prioritise shamans when they are the ones draining prayer, and do not use Smite or the Keris, which waste prayer.252627

Health and supplies

On the 500 run the room must be passed without brews. He took only about 10 damage, healed back with Blood fury, and says players will probably finish with 30 to 50 health and should heal slowly with Blood fury at Baba.2128 Blowpipe specs are guaranteed hits and heal.27 He finished a July 2025 attempt on 90 health, which he considers ideal. At about 50 health a couple of Keris pokes restore health; above 80 it does not matter, especially with Blood fury.2930 Before Baba he over-brews, then repots stats.31
