Turael is the easiest Slayer master. He can cancel a Slayer task for no Slayer point cost and give the player one of his own, and he assigns 25 different tasks.214 Gnomonkey uses him for two things: cancelling unwanted tasks, and "Turael point boosting".

Cancelling and point boosting

Cancelling with Turael means asking him for a task you do not like so that he resets it with one of his own. This resets the task streak, and four tasks must be completed before points start accumulating again.234 Turael point boosting means doing nine tasks with Turael and then every tenth task with the best possible master, to boost points.4

Gnomonkey considers Turael cancelling a great option after 99 Slayer when looking for specific tasks such as Slayer bosses, shamans (so a slayer helmet can be used in the Chambers of Xeric) or Jad and Inferno tasks. He does not recommend it before 99 Slayer, since it is much more efficient to skip tasks with points than to regear for Turael tasks until good ones appear.33

Many of Turael's tasks count for bosses, such as spiders for Sarachnis or Venenatis, or zombies for Vorkath, and the small amount he assigns can make him a fun Slayer boss master for breaking up the grind.5 With a Slayer cape, contact Turael before leaving the completed task, as there is a chance of getting a back-to-back task while boosting.1

Block list

As of 2025, Gnomonkey's Turael block list is lizards, dogs and skeletons, plus bats, dwarves and wolves if there are enough slots, and then Kalphite if the player plans to cancel tasks.6

  • Lizards: They have 50-something health, require ice coolers or the reptile freezer, and are slow. The alternative is cannoning sulfur lizards in Mount Karuulm.6
  • Dogs: Very slow, because few spawns exist (best near the Agility Pyramid) and they have a lot of health and waste time attacking the player, so blocking is great.7
  • Skeletons: Extremely slow even with the method of Padawa-teleporting to the Edgeville Dungeon, cannoning and running through, so they are a great block.8
  • Bats: The block he would leave unblocked if short on slots: they are spread out near the Dig Site and need long range, but are only barely cannonable and slow.9
  • Dwarves and wolves: The least impactful blocks and can be left unblocked if short on slots. Dwarves are killed in White Wolf Tunnel and have about 30 health; wolves are multi, so a Venator bow kills them fairly quickly.10
  • Kalphite: Turael refuses to cancel a task he can give, but if the player blocks it he forgets it and will skip it, so Kalphite need not be blocked on other masters.11 It is the lowest-weight Turael task and a fast, multi task, so he would otherwise leave it unblocked, but blocking lets a huge Kalphite task from another master, such as 180 Kalphite, be cancelled.11 Turael cannot cancel Kalphite tasks he assigns himself, so if a better master gives them while cancelling, the player has to do the task. If cancelling for a long time, it is probably best to block Kalphites.12

Task guide

Gnomonkey's 2021 guide to the individual tasks mostly relies on the cannon, a teleport and a short run.

Task Location and method
Banshees East side of the ground floor of the Slayer Tower, using a slayer ring; drink a stamina dose at the start as there is a lot of running.13
Bats West of Paterdomus near the Rag and Bone Man via a digsite teleport; set up the cannon and run east to kill the bats it cannot see.14
Bears South of the Legends' Guild, via quest cape teleport, fairy ring BLR or a house teleport. The task also counts for Callisto.15
Birds Penguins at fairy ring AJS are the most useful task for a bulwark: wear full melee with piety, drop all of them with bulwark specs, hop worlds if one spec kills them all, and teleport home to restore special attack.16 Without an ornate pool and fairy ring in the house, go to the Lumbridge chickens.17
Cave bugs Dungeon reached via fairy ring AJQ (transcribed as Dorikshin Dungeon), with a light source or the player will die. Run north-west of the ring for the most spawns and kill only the small ones when possible, as large cave bugs have over 100 HP.18
Cave crawlers Fremennik Slayer Dungeon, via slayer ring or fairy ring AJR; their poison does negligible damage.19
Cave slime Same dungeon via fairy ring AJQ, just north of the ring; a light source is needed.20
Cows Eastern Lumbridge cow pen, via nexus teleport to Lumbridge and a run; a cannon in the middle of the pen ends the task within 60 seconds.21
Crawling hands Only found in the Slayer Tower; he uses a slayer ring and pipes them with chinchompas while running around.22
Desert lizards One of the more annoying tasks. Fairy ring DLQ with a stack of ice coolers: place a cannon and throw coolers at the lizards it tags. Waterskins are not needed, because the task ends before desert heat matters.23 Optionally cannon sulphur lizards in Konar's cave, which is slower but much more AFK and less annoying.23
Dogs Jackals just south of the lizards at fairy ring DLQ, with the cannon roughly in one spot and any nearby jackals piped.24
Dwarves Taverley Dungeon, via construction cape to the Taverley house portal or a redirected house tab; drop the cannon in the centre of the tables.25
Goblins House nexus to Lumbridge and run east; cannon position does not matter and the task ends extremely quickly.26
Ghosts Catacombs of Kourend, via Xeric's talisman or the Great Kourend teleport. The best spot is north-east of the entrance, and bulwark specs can be dumped before piping them all.27
Ice fiends Lassar teleport tabs or the Monastery and run north, then put the cannon on one tile.28
Kalphites Kalphite Slayer cave, via Desert amulet 4 directly, or glory to Al Kharid and a short run east after the Shanty Pass. Place the cannon in the centre of the small Kalphites.29 The Kalphite Queen can be killed for the task instead.12
Minotaurs Stronghold of Security, via skull sceptre: one south through the gates, then east a little, and a cannon in the centre of the room finishes in seconds.30
Monkeys Gnome seed pod to a glider, glide to Ape Atoll, through the trapdoor and into the first hole with a light source; stack monkeys against a wall and throw chinchompas on a medium fuse. Without Monkey Madness II, cannon at fairy ring CKR.31 Tortured gorillas also count.32
Rats Varrock sewers, via nexus and a run north-east to the manhole; drop the cannon, and bulwark specs work. The fastest task Turael assigns by far.33
Scorpions Al Kharid mine, via the Duel Arena and a run north, cannon on one spot. Scorpia can be killed for the task.34
Skeletons Bring a rope, teleport to the digsite and use the rope on the hole, then cannon.35 Vet'ion can be killed for the task.35
Sourhogs One of the worst tasks: single combat with a decent health pool and fairly slow. He gets there with a chronicle and the rock shortcut and drops a cannon.36
Spiders Near the HAM hideout; nexus to Lumbridge, run west with a cannon. Very fast. Sarachnis or Venenatis can be killed for it.37
Wolves Glider (via seed pod or ring of dueling to Duel Arena) to White Wolf Mountain; place the cannon where it hits all the wolves.38
Zombies Ectophial and run west to the farm, cannon and kill everything. Vorkath can be killed for the task.39
