Agility is, in Gnomonkey's words, one of the few skills that passively benefits the player at all times, and as of 2020 the most profitable skill in the game5. Many people dislike it for being click-intensive, but the Hallowed Sepulchre changed that for him and made him enjoy the skill5. In 2022 he calls it a very useful 99 and easily his favourite skill, which he would likely grind first, through the Sepulchre because it supplies lots of gp and has a high pet chance66. On his ironman account he began with a long period of Agility training, which he jokes every ironman does7, spending about eleven and a half hours to reach level 47 at the start of episode 38.

In 2026 he asks for easier early Agility and, after the Summer Sweep-Up, accepts that Agility is here to stay91011.

Benefits

Every seven Agility levels increase the speed of run energy regeneration by 5 to 10%. Energy recovers two times faster at level 50 and three times faster at level 995.

Training

The main method is rooftop courses, which have a small chance to spawn a Mark of Grace1.

  • Levels 1 to 10: only the Gnome Stronghold course can be used. It takes 14 laps (about 15 minutes) to reach level 10 and gives no Marks of Grace because it is not a rooftop course3.
  • Quests: Recruitment Drive, Tourist Trap, The Depths of Despair and The Grand Tree give 19,700 Agility XP together, from level 1 to level 3312.
  • Level 60: he advises holding training here until the Kandarin Hard Diary is done, since it lets the Camelot Teleport land next to the Seers' Village course start4. The diary raises the Seers' Village course from about 45k to 55k XP an hour and also gives some Magic experience4. Seers' Village from 60 to 75 takes 1,644 laps, or 1,098 laps to level 724.
  • Side XP: between obstacles the player can cast Humidify or High Level Alchemy for Magic XP, or fletch darts or bolts13. He typically casts High Level Alchemy on rooftops because it keeps him focused on Agility, whereas watching something else lowers the XP rate13.
  • Hallowed Sepulchre: his preferred method from 2022, for gp and pet chance6.

Pet

The Hallowed Sepulchre pet chance depends on the floor exited at, from 1 in 35,000 when leaving floor one to 1 in 2,000 at floor five14. At 9-minute laps to floor five, the giant squirrel takes almost exactly 300 hours. The comparison is almost 500 hours on the Prifddinas course, 400 hours on the Ardougne course and about 150 hours on the Penguin course2. He calls the Sepulchre chance really good, much better than Prifddinas or Ardougne but not as good as the Penguin course2.

Opinions on balance (2026)

He wants early rooftop XP rates raised slightly: going from Draynor at 9 to 10k XP an hour to Al Kharid gives only about 1k more, which hardly feels worth the trip9. The curve has a small increase up to Canifis then a massive jump at Falador, and he suggests raising the lower courses by around 5k XP an hour9. Low run energy early on feels really bad because the player walks everywhere, and he would like Agility made a little easier in general10.

He suggests a 15 second stamina effect for energy potions and 30 seconds for super energy potions, since both are currently useless and made in bulk and never touched10. He suggests this could be used at Blast Furnace by drinking a dose every lap15.

Summer Sweep-Up changes (2026)

The update includes Agility changes he had asked for11. * Colossal Wyrm course (the "worm course", Varlamore): made 25 to 30% longer, with XP and termites increased to match, so it gives the same XP and termites per hour with fewer inputs16. He had not found it worth doing, and the change might make it viable depending on how AFK it is between steps16. * Arceuus Library: a new shortcut from the top floor down to the bottom could speed up the library Magic or Runecrafting method17. * Clue scrolls: new shortcuts, one over to the elite clue spot and one west of Piscatoris, replace a long run around a mountain17. * Grapple shortcuts: several become usable without a crossbow or gear if highly overleveled: the River Lum grapple, the Falador wall climb, the Catherby to Taverley rock climb (still 68 Agility), the Catherby water obelisk jump at 72, the Yanille wall climb at 69 (grapple still needed for the diary), and trees south of the Karamja volcano at 7818.

Trivia

While training on the ironman account Gnomonkey received a kebab from the sandwich lady, noting it is a fairly high-healing food and may matter since he was unsure what food would be available19. He said pretty much every random event is useful on the account, hoping the captain event gives a gold bar needed later for Monkey Madness, as it is his only way of getting one20.
