Herblore appears in Gnomonkey's videos mainly as a source of utility potions and as a value pillar of the herb economy. It matters for group quest planning, for the unlimited potion supply in the Moons area, for the new potions shown with the Sailing update, and as the reason he opposed the herb-harvesting spade reward.34567

Group planning

Doing the Colosseum skips the Vorkath grind and the Herblore level needed for super antifires.8 A teammate noted the current quest plan does not get the group to level 4 Herblore, only three and three quarters.3 Gnomonkey wants Herblore for herb tar immediately, though it takes a while, and thinks the Jungle Potion quest might get the group to the level needed, calling herb tar massive.39

Moons potions

Making potions in the Moons area gives effectively unlimited super combat and Prayer potions at minor input.4 Their stats depend on Herblore level, and 55 Herblore is needed for the full super strength effect.1 For sulphur naga training, his routine is to grab a full inventory of grubs, grind them up, drop four or six on the ground, and make sets of potions.1

Herb value

In March 2025 Gnomonkey opposed a spade that would harvest herbs instantly, arguing the following.5 * Torstol is the highest-level herb, with a maximum yield of about 9.42 at 224.5 harvest XP, an extra roughly 2,000 XP per patch next to each allotment; across eight allotment runs the herb patches would give an extra 16k to 17k Farming XP.105 * The spade would devalue Torstol seeds and Torstols, which are already low in value and dropped by many bosses.5 * Herb seed and herb value must be protected: much of the profit at Tombs of Amascut comes from ranarr and snapdragon seeds, and much of the value from Chambers of Xeric from grimy herbs.11 * Herb runs are consistently the best early-game moneymaker; he tells people to do them until they reach mid-level bosses, so devaluing them would ruin early moneymaking.12 * Nobody was discussing Torstols, which would be harvested at the same time as snape grass or watermelons, causing a cascading problem for the economy.13

New potions (July 2025)

Potion Details
Anti-bleed tonic Made with corals and paste from fishing; cures bleed and heals 5 hitpoints but does not prevent bleed from being reapplied. Only Vardorvis's axe applies bleed, and he expects it to be good there.6
Super fishing potion Boosts Fishing by six; he thinks it will help with diaries and fishing sturgeon at Barbarian Fishing earlier, like summer pies for the Rooftop course.14
Extreme energy potion Restores 40% run energy; he says it would be really good at Blast Furnace.15
Super hunter potion Boosts Hunter by six.15
Extended stamina potion 70% reduction in run energy depletion for four minutes (up from two for a regular stamina potion); each dose adds two charges to the ring of endurance and consumes two from the ring. He thinks this gives about eight minutes of stamina with the ring, which he calls wild and says will greatly cut stamina potion use for Iron Men.1617
Armadyl brew Needs about 89 Herblore and Umbral coral and crab paste; heals 10% plus 2 hitpoints and raises Ranged by 10% plus 4, but lowers Attack, Strength, Magic and Defence by 10% plus 2. He estimates 11 healed per dose, 44 per potion.2

Gnomonkey thinks the Armadyl brew could be the strongest offshoot brew in the game for pure ranging, such as Zulrah, Chinning, God Wars with a Twisted bow or Scorching bow, and the Doom of Mokhaiotl, where the melee punish bonus damage is unaffected by level.18 He would like an upgraded Zamorak brew that raises all combat stats, a super-combat style brew near level 99.19

Armadillo brew (November 2025)

In November 2025 the potion appears as the Armadillo brew; the Herblore level listed in the Sailing prep is the level required, and Gnomonkey says the crab used to make it needs 77 Hunter.7 It gives a little less health than a normal brew but drains every combat stat except Ranged, and boosts Ranged by the same amount as a normal ranging potion.7 He expects it to be very strong in the Inferno, against Zulrah and at Doom of Mokhaiotl, among other places.7 An extended stamina potion is also coming with Sailing, and he says getting Herblore up will be very helpful.7
