Requirements

  • Reaching 35 Thieving should give the group the ability to do Varlamore Prayer training.1
  • Mining bone shards requires 49 Slayer, which he does not have.2
  • Gnomonkey would not attempt the Corrupted Gauntlet without at least the Titan prayers, Deadeye and Mystic Vigour; on an iron he would grab these first and on a main he would buy Rigor and Augury.3

Methods

  • Gnomonkey trains Prayer using Varlamore methods: chiselling bones and adding them to wine in the libation bowl, ideally with sunfire splinters.4

Tips

  • If Vorkath's pink breath turns prayers off when attacks are slightly off-sync, the player can miss an attack with Rigor off.5
  • Gnomonkey turns his prayers off completely during Vorkath's ice phase, which saves a lot of prayer over the fight.6
  • Gnomonkey flicks prayers whenever Vorkath hits on the same tick he attacks; flicking is also possible if Vorkath is one tick off sync, but pointless if more out of sync because prayers drain every three ticks.7
  • During the acid phase Gnomonkey turns Protect from Missiles off but keeps Rigor on, which is harder than it sounds because Protect from Missiles must be turned off manually.7
  • Gnomonkey brings about seven prayer potions and a restore to Grotesque Guardians so he can drink brew drops if forced to.8
  • When Dusk approaches during the Dawn phase, pray melee to catch his hit, then alternate between ranged and melee prayers while killing Dawn, who usually fires only two ranged orbs but may throw a freezing orb like the superior gargoyle.9
  • If a shadow appears next to you during the Dawn phase, move away quickly to avoid it.9
  • If you receive many potato and prayer potion drops, Gnomonkey turns combat potion drops into divines with crystal dust to extend the trip.10
  • A chat suggestion was to farm wave one and two of the Colosseum for quick GP and Prayer experience, but he says he needs protection prayers for that.11
  • You can run Steel Skin alongside Deadeye or Mystic Vigour in the Corrupted Gauntlet for more defence and less food needed; together they drain the same as Piety and are sustainable with three prayer potions.12

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey is torn on bringing crystal dust at Grotesque Guardians because the boss rarely drops enough prayer potions for the trip to last long enough to make divines; it may be better to bring another prayer potion.13
  • Gnomonkey quotes and agrees with a Reddit comment saying max-gear players who run hard mode Theatre of Blood or 450 scale Tombs of Amascut call the DPS buffs huge and worth the trade-off, while average players say they are not rewarding enough, and that the loudest voice should not decide.14
  • Gnomonkey says the higher-level player base knows how ridiculous adding this many max hits is, and that if the community is evenly divided maybe the book is not needed at all.15
  • Gnomonkey says the Varlamore libation bowl method is slightly better than the Ectofuntus for Prayer experience, just barely.16
  • Gnomonkey says Deadeye and Mystic Vigour are close in power to Rigor and Augury but take half the prayer cost, and he would not go to the Corrupted Gauntlet until the Titans grind is done.17
