Topics covered

Gnome and Monkey locked Ironman

  • (0:26) Gnomonkey's Gnome and Monkey locked Ironman may only use content within the Tree Gnome Stronghold, Battlefield and Tree Gnome Village, and later will access Ape Atoll.
  • (0:52) The account may leave to do tasks for the gnomes or monkeys, including quests and Gnome Restaurant, but all items for these tasks must be foraged within the restricted areas.
  • (0:52) Exceptions Gnomonkey makes: buying a house and bringing a saw (needed for Eyes of Glouphrie) and a fishing rod to allow fishing later, since he found no way to obtain them within the restrictions; he also later needs Druidic Ritual to access Herblore.
  • (1:21) The goal of the account is to complete every gnome and monkey related quest, up to and including Monkey Madness II; Gnomonkey does not plan to go for 99s because the account is so restricted.
  • (10:07) Episode 1 represented about eight hours of playtime, and Gnomonkey expects progress to be slow for a while.
  • (10:39) Gnomonkey previews that the next episode will finish the Tree Gnome Village quest and take on the Khazard Warlord.

Gnomonkey

  • (0:00) The series opens with a narrated intro about a hybrid born of neither gnome nor monkey, too tall for the gnomes and too gnome-like for the monkeys, restricted to the lands of his people.
  • (1:21) The Gnome and Monkey locked Ironman is also the channel's recurring series for the character Gnomonkey, labelled Episode 1 in the video description.

Tree Gnome Stronghold

  • (1:21) Gnomonkey wears the Ironman armor to safely get through the Stronghold of Security and earn 5k GP to buy a house.
  • (2:18) Gnomonkey discovers that a seller in the area also sells saws, which cost him 13 coins.
  • (2:44) To reach the Tree Gnome Stronghold from the shop area Gnomonkey must run past White Wolf Mountain, and warns that dropping armor too early made the wolves dangerous.
  • (8:12) The stronghold's axe seller charges 200 coins for a steel axe; Gnomonkey buys the iron axe instead, which has better stats than a bronze pickaxe, as his new melee weapon.

Agility

  • (3:46) Gnomonkey starts the account with a long period of Agility training, which he jokes every Ironman does.
  • (4:20) While training Agility Gnomonkey receives a kebab from the sandwich lady, which he notes is a fairly high-healing food and may matter since he is unsure what food will be available on the account.

Combat

  • (5:25) Gnomonkey finds that gnomes only drop bones despite the wiki saying they drop a lot of items, and that rats drop nothing and giant rats drop only bones and meat that do not sell for anything.
  • (5:52) His best bet for gear is killing low-level goblins, but he initially cannot kill them without armor or weapons, so he kicks rats until his combat level is high enough.
  • (6:21) An early attempt to kill a goblin while flicking Thick Skin fails because the goblin keeps healing, leaving Gnomonkey on 2 health; he then kicks rats for about 30 minutes before killing the goblin.
  • (6:50) The goblin's drop was earth runes, which sell for 1 coin each at the Tree Gnome Village general store, his first GP on the account; he buys a bronze pickaxe, which has slightly better stats.
  • (10:07) Later goblin drops give him an upgraded weapon and a red cape with some defence stats, which he jokes begins Red Cape season.

Crafting

  • (4:52) Gnomonkey finds he cannot string bowstrings on an account this low in level and fears there may be no way to train Crafting on the account.
  • (8:43) While theorycrafting Crafting methods Gnomonkey finds he cannot get wool, cook pottery or blow glass, and has no way to get molten glass; he hopes Gnome Restaurant's opal drop is the key.
  • (8:43) The wiki claims gnomes drop items, which Gnomonkey considers completely wrong, hoping it is right at least half the time.

Fletching

  • (9:10) After 30 minutes of woodcutting and cutting logs, Gnomonkey reaches level 5 Fletching and 5 Firemaking but finds he needs feathers to make bronze arrows.
  • (9:37) Gnomonkey concludes there is literally no way to get feathers on the account, so arrow Fletching is out of the question.
