Jad healers is a mechanic topic that Gnomonkey covers in 2 videos between 2021-03-08 and 2026-05-05. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.
Stats and numbers
- In the Jad Challenge every Jad spawns 5 healers, compared with only 3 healers for the triple Jads in the Inferno, which makes it basically impossible to out-DPS the healers with a twisted bow the way you could with regular Jad.1
- Challenge Jad healers are harder than Fight Caves healers: max hit 18 versus 14 for regular healers, 100 HP instead of 60, and higher stats across the board.2
- Unlike the Fight Caves, where healers within four tiles of Jad heal him, in the Jad Challenge healers have to be untagged and right next to Jad in order to heal him.2
- The tier 8 Minion relic sometimes cannot tag the healers because it only attacks the ones near Jad's southwest corner.3
- When four or more healers are touching Jad, he out-heals Thorns damage and will permanently be at full health.4
Tips
- Two to three healers attacking you can easily kill you if you are slow to attack Jad, so Gnomonkey says it is important to be smart about how you attack them.2
- If a healer is stuck behind you, other healers, or even another Jad, it cannot heal Jad even if you have not tagged it.5
- Healers spawn in random locations but always walk towards the southwest tile of Jad until next to him, so you can stand in line with the southwest tile of the Jads to get as many healers stuck behind you as possible.5
- Only tag a healer close to Jad when it is on the opposite side of him; healers stuck behind another healer do not need to be tagged.5
- If Gnomonkey did not quickly deal with the stuck healers, all but one Jad he is attacking would have infinite health from the healers and the challenge would slow to a crawl.6
- Gnomonkey used entity hiding on the healers to reduce mental noise, because their animations are so distracting and he is not going to tag them anyway.6
- In early attempts Gnomonkey tried to tag the Jads' healers with the Lithic Scepter, which ran him out of runes and charges, so he stopped doing that and just did not use the spec swap because swapping to a shield and staff as items move around the inventory was not worth it.6
