Insanity is a mechanic topic that Gnomonkey covers in 2 videos between 2024-10-24 and 2025-10-04. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.

Methods

  • For the second set of skulls under Insanity you stand on the left side, and for the last set it is the same as the second, left side all the way.1
  • Insanity makes the Wardens' attacks very fast (a three-tick slam) and makes him pick up where he left off after the skulls instead of always starting the same side, so after skulls you run to the back of the room and react to where the tiles are thrown.2

Stats and numbers

  • At 60% Zebak spawns and shoots random prayers at you, and Baba drops rocks, but as long as you are moving every three ticks the rocks never hit you.3

Tips

  • Insanity gives the Wardens a three tick attack speed, so you need to walk every three ticks: two ticks safe, one tick where you take damage.4
  • Under Insanity the skulls kill you if you do not kill them fast enough; the first set spawns at 20% health down in the middle, so you stand where you are.4
  • During Insanity you should stand at the back because it takes longer for attacks to hit there, giving you time to react to where they were, and that Insanity picks up where it left off so you do not have to remember anything.5
  • There is no tick to react to the animation from the front row, so you must pre-move; standing further than the green lines means you will get hit every time.6
  • To start at the bottom and work your way up for one of the Insanity skull sequences.6
  • Skull skipping is great for points but only works solo, because in teams it is too slow to be worth it.7
  • You cannot really practice Insanity because you have to reach the Wardens first and if you die you get no practice; ambrosia saves you when you fall off pace, and as you get used to it you stop taking tile damage and have ambrosia left for the last row.8
  • Gnomonkey suggests learning by doing 150 raids with Insanity on, or running a 90 with only the Warden invocations to fly through the raid, then practising the Wardens.9

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says the Insanity invocation is not as bad as people think and is easy to deal with once taught.10
  • Gnomonkey says Insanity is very safe in a duo because the skulls are very slow.11
  • Gnomonkey says you get through the raid and to the Wardens' last attempts much faster with Insanity, a big difference, and that going back to a 200 without Insanity feels like training with weights on.12
  • Gnomonkey says Insanity is harder than people made it seem and has a learning curve, and from a new player's perspective might be the hardest invocation, but once you do it a few times it clicks.13
  • Gnomonkey says Dehydration is maybe the worst invocation people run: players bring no brews or supplies, just around 12 prayer pots and no food, and live off the yellow Keres special for healing.14
