Death Charge is a mechanic topic that Gnomonkey covers in 4 videos between 2025-03-01 and 2025-06-25. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.
Tips
- Double death charge would be very strong in the Colosseum, the Inferno, and any boss with adds, plus raid rooms with multiple lizardmen shamans or mystics, and at Kephri with swarms and adds.1
- Akkha's shadows also give death charge, so in certain scales you may kill two within a death charge.2
- Gnomonkey brings thrall runes and death charge on the melee Zulrah setup; you can charge off recoil damage on snakelings, letting you get more Crystal halberd specs.3
- Death charge is worth bringing because recoil killing a snakeling gives you the death charge, and it adds up.4
- Gnomonkey recommends double Death charge in ToA, saying it is very strong there and that the raid can be done without it but he highly recommends getting it first.5
- Gnomonkey uses Death charge on Kephri, on Akkha's shadows and on the Warden core to get extra special attacks.6
Gnomonkey's opinion
- Gnomonkey thinks the Death Charge upgrade is a creative way of upgrading it, doubling its value only where minions are available, such as the monkey room, Maiden's crabs, or other minion rooms, but no help against a boss like Vardorvis.7
- Gnomonkey says the cosmic soul rune means you no longer need loose runes for Death Charge, which together with the spec energy buffs and saved inventory space is a giant buff, especially for using thralls.8
- Gnomonkey says the Ring of shadows already holds soul runes, so the cosmic soul rune is not a big buff for spellbook swapping, but is for thralls and Death Charge generally.9
- Gnomonkey calls the double death charge buff cracked and super good, and says he is more excited about it than about the Surge potion.1
- Gnomonkey says double death charge from the Yama update coming the next week will be really good for this melee Zulrah setup.10
Events
- A Yama drop upgrades Death Charge permanently, letting it grant spec energy from two enemies killed per cast rather than one.7
- Yama's cosmic catalyst is a tradable, stackable drop that lets players with 90 Runecrafting combine cosmic and soul runes into a cosmic soul rune.11
- The new double death charge gives an extra 15% special attack energy every minute, assuming there are things to kill.12
