Topics covered

Group Hardcore Ironman: Big Dawgs V1

  • (0:00) After losing all lives in a previous group hardcore attempt (referred to as Monkey Manus 1), Gnomonkey starts a group Hardcore Ironman progression series on YouTube and says speedrun content is being shelved for now.
  • (0:00) Gnomonkey says he is now an Ironman streamer and will remake the hardcore group every time the group dies.
  • (0:00) The group has five members: Gnomonkey, Tasty, Tpapa, Jessie and saebae, as stated in the video description.
  • (0:00) Per the video description, Gnomonkey plans to make videos of select difficult challenges the group overcomes rather than overall progress, since the first few days are the same as any starting account with lots of questing and AFK grinds.
  • (0:00) Gnomonkey's description says viewers who want a more daily-progress approach should watch the stream, and that videos will return when he preps for PvM progression.
  • (0:26) The group discussed forfeits for whoever loses the first life: one suggestion was a tribunal where members submit punishments and need a three-fifths majority agreement.
  • (0:54) The group name Big Dogs was already taken, so the team created the group as Big Dogs V1.
  • (0:54) When creating a Group Ironman group, the game warns that group members cannot be changed for a while after finalising, and that inviting more members will cause the group to lose its hardcore and prestige status.
  • (1:23) Gnomonkey says there is no chance the group will last very long as a group hardcore.
  • (11:19) Another forfeit suggestion discussed for the first death was 12 hours of Sandstone mining; the forfeit was still undecided and no one had died yet.

Group Ironman Mode

  • (0:00) Per the video description, Gnomonkey considers group hardcore more interesting than solo because a lot of the most difficult content in the game (Fight Caves, Inferno, Chambers of Xeric, even Nightmare Zone) is a safe death for normal accounts but no longer safe for hardcores in a group.
  • (0:00) Per the video description, Gnomonkey's plan is to rush the Colosseum as soon as possible with moons gear and then push on to content like Chambers of Xeric and the Inferno.
  • (21:40) Lives are shared across the group: a member rushing the Colosseum says he needs three lives desperately and no one else should lose any early, while two other members say they can lose theirs that night.

Stronghold of Security

  • (1:51) All five group members ran through the Stronghold of Security together while their stream chats protected them, and everyone made it to the end except Jessie.
  • (2:19) Jessie was left behind towards the end of the Stronghold of Security because she ran out of run energy and was attacked a few times; no lives were lost.
  • (2:19) With the Stronghold of Security reward money each member funded a different path: Tasty rushed Hunter rumours, Saebae rushed most of the long-term tick manipulation grinds, Jessie rushed Runecraft, and Tpapa rushed no-overhead Barrows.

Fortis Colosseum

  • (0:00) Per the video description, Gnomonkey's plan is to rush the Colosseum ASAP with moons gear before pushing on to Chambers of Xeric and the Inferno.
  • (2:47) Gnomonkey says he does not see the practical point of rushing the Colosseum other than the flex, but notes it lets you skip the Vorkath grind and therefore the Herblore level needed for super antifires, which he calls massive.
  • (6:45) Gnomonkey says he is going to use all five lives going for the Colosseum.
  • (7:48) Gnomonkey jokes that the group will probably die to the moons before anyone gets to the Colosseum.

Witch's House

  • (4:43) A teammate, No Muskie, was caught by the experiment in Witch's House on the hardcore account, and teammates scrambled to avoid a life loss.
  • (5:15) In Witch's House you have to avoid the line of sight of the experiment; with walk on you move one tile at a time and with run on you move two tiles.
  • (5:15) Gnomonkey says you lose the ball in Witch's House if you get caught, and that players need another cheese to retrieve it.
  • (5:45) Gnomonkey says knowledge of safe spots in combat is easy but line-of-sight mechanics like in Witch's House are not so easy.
  • (6:14) Gnomonkey grabbed an entire inventory of cheese so teammates would not need to worry about failures in Witch's House.

Tree Gnome Stronghold

  • (11:52) Gnomonkey says a quest the group completes in the Tree Gnome area gets them tree teleports, which he calls massive, and that they might do the Tree Gnome Stronghold agility course while there.
  • (11:52) Gnomonkey notes the Tree Gnome Stronghold step needs 25 Agility.

Giant Mole

  • (10:21) Gnomonkey says he is doing a Giant Mole rush ASAP on the hardcore account.
  • (16:00) Gnomonkey says that if he gets mole slippers he will pass them around in the group storage so every group member has a chance of wearing them.

Tick manipulation

  • (2:19) Saebae's early path in the group hardcore is rushing most of the long-term tick manipulation grinds.
  • (8:20) Chat counts a teammate as having wasted 22 ticks while fighting near the Giant Mole area, with a joke that another player tallies the ticks he loses.
  • (14:45) Gnomonkey tick manipulates shrimp fishing using snow while teammates talk, joking he may be the first person to do so.

Ironman Mode

  • (19:07) Gnomonkey says early game Ironman is fun because you constantly get progress, jump around the game, and can do micro efficiency like multitasking and planning ahead, so he understands why people like it.
  • (19:35) Gnomonkey says endgame Ironman is not fun, though he admits he has not gotten there and doubts the group will on these accounts, while early to mid-game Ironman is fine.
  • (19:35) Gnomonkey says mid-game Ironman has some bad grinds like the Bow of Faerdhinen, but also easy fast levels, big dopamine and a lot of skill to speed things up.
  • (21:40) At the end of the video Gnomonkey jokingly says he hates Ironman so much, contradicting his earlier statements.

Bow of Faerdhinen

  • (19:35) Gnomonkey says the Bow of Faerdhinen is the first thing an Ironman could possibly grind for that you can go horribly dry on.
  • (19:35) Gnomonkey says a streamer was reportedly stuck for about a year on this bow grind in chat discussion, and that this kind of grind sucks.
  • (20:08) Gnomonkey says the Bow of Faerdhinen feels like the gateway to late-game PvM and ends up feeling like a bottleneck because it is the first really low drop-rate item, though there are ways around it.

Tourist Trap

  • (13:21) A teammate states Tourist Trap requires 10 Fletching and 20 Smithing, and that the quest's Agility experience is going to be huge.
  • (16:44) Gnomonkey says reaching 33 Smithing means they can do Tourist Trap and get Agility, which will make being a walker a little less bad.

Herblore

  • (2:47) Gnomonkey notes that doing the Colosseum skips the Vorkath grind and the Herblore level needed for super antifires.
  • (13:21) A teammate says the current quest plan does not get the group to level 4 Herblore, only three and three quarters.
  • (13:21) Gnomonkey says he wants Herblore for herb tar immediately (insta), though it takes a while.
  • (21:09) Gnomonkey says the Jungle Potion quest might get the group to the Herblore needed for Herb tar, calling Herb tar massive.

Digsite

  • (18:39) Gnomonkey says he hates Observatory Quest so much and plans to train Thieving on stalls to 25, then do Digsite, which he says is the only requirement he does not have.
  • (19:07) Gnomonkey calls Digsite such an ass quest.
  • (21:09) Gnomonkey completes the Digsite by the end of the video, reaching 422 total level.

Total level progress

  • (18:12) At one point Gnomonkey notes 40 Attack puts rune swords on the menu, and then is at 44 Attack and 23 Magic.
  • (20:40) About 20 minutes into the video the group's total level is 398, expected to pass 400 after a mining level.
  • (21:09) After completing the Digsite, Gnomonkey is at 422 total level and calls it for the end of Day 1.

Early game questing and skilling

  • (2:47) Gnomonkey says his main early game concerns are questing and getting combat levels up for Slayer and moons, and that all progress is important so there is no crystal clear focus yet.
  • (16:44) Gnomonkey says many quests are Monty Python inspired and one barrel-related quest is probably the most bizarre quest in the game, with several random ways to fail.
  • (17:45) Gnomonkey says Hazeel Cult was good for gold as well as quest progress.
  • (18:39) Gnomonkey says Ardougne Easy diary is super good but pointless until you get fairy rings, and he thinks rushing it immediately is pointless.

Group Ironman teammates

  • (0:00) Gnomonkey's teammates on Big Dawgs V1 are Tasty (kick.com/tastylife), Tpapa (twitch.tv/tpapaslice), Jessie (kick.com/jessy) and Saebae (twitch.tv/saeder).
  • (0:00) Gnomonkey describes the team as strong, with Tasty, Tpapa, Jessie and Saebae all being very solid players from different account styles.
  • (21:40) Gnomonkey tells teammates not to lose his lives while he naps because he needs them for the Colosseum; teammates say he needs three.
