Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey likes that Jagex made the competition open-ended: AI is banned and entrants can submit a write-up without art, so people who are not artistically inclined get a fair chance.1
  • Gnomonkey was afraid his ideas would be stolen and did not let Gnome leak them much on stream, and he is curious what ideas people did not post publicly because others had the same fear.2
  • Gnomonkey's pick is the first island, which has a PvP practice boss and a hybrid agility and crafting method, and he says it has the most merit while he does not hate any of the four.3
  • Gnomonkey dislikes one finalist island that has a Slayer master available only on islands.3

Events

  • Jagex put out a Player Island Competition in which the community designs a new Sailing island; Hedron's Maw of Whispers is her entry.4
  • Entries to the Player Island Competition end January 7th, and designs are picked at the Winter Summit later in January.4
  • Jagex plans to pick the top four submissions, present them on the Winter Summit stream, and let the community vote on which they want.2
  • After the community vote, the chosen player island goes to a 70% pass or fail poll.5
  • Jagex presented four player-submitted island designs for a community vote; Hedron's Maw of Whispers did not make it in.3

Trivia

  • Most of the four finalist islands focus on crafting or agility, and almost all have some crafting or agility method.3
