Update: Varlamore fletching activity is an update topic that Gnomonkey covers in 1 video on 2025-01-27. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.
Gnomonkey's opinion
- Gnomonkey is curious whether the new fletching knife will work for teak log tick manipulation, since cutting a teak log is three-tick and he wonders whether one in five could become two-tick; he expects Jagex to block that.1
- Gnomonkey says the enhanced hunter traps could be insane for box traps on chinchompas, since chinchompas are already very good Hunter XP, and that the AFK option suits relaxed Hunter training.2
- Gnomonkey finds it strange that Fletching rewards give temporary access to a Slayer dungeon and says he would prefer that reward to come from Mokha, which is coming out at the same time.3
- Gnomonkey thinks the undead-debuff darts might be useful against Vorkath, and that the binding darts could be interesting against the Maiden in the Theatre of Blood, but says leaves are annoying to collect.4
Events
- The Fletching activity that replaces Trouble Brewing as the Fletching method is coming with Varlamore part three and has players recycling logs, bows and shields into totems.5
- One previewed reward is a bowstring spool: a single inventory slot that holds up to 270 strings and lets the player string 27 bows at a time.1
- Another previewed reward is a fletching knife that, roughly every five bows, gives a chance to speed up Fletching.1
- Whittling blades can be bought for gp from the shop once the player has the plans; when chopping with one in the inventory there is a chance logs turn into arrow shafts, which Gnomonkey says will help with AFKing Woodcutting longer.6
- Ent branches are an uncommon drop that let players make enhanced bird snares, net trap kits and box traps, which would have a 50% chance to reset themselves if they fail.6
- The enhanced traps cannot be picked up after placing and collapse after 10 minutes, making them an AFK-oriented option rather than tick-by-tick trapping.2
- Players could spend items from the Fletching activity to temporarily access a new Slayer area.3
- Using an ent branch on leaves makes darts that Jagex wants to give a debuff; the ideas were non-stacking attack and defence reduction against undead creatures and a binding effect on the target.3
