Update: Sailing week 2 is an update topic that Gnomonkey covers in 1 video on 2025-12-03. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey opens the video sarcastically repeating complaints that people who whined about Sailing XP rates ruined the skill, noting the real public opinion is the opposite: players felt Sailing was being nerfed.1
  • Gnomonkey says the update as a whole is 'a big stinker' and that Sailing is worse this week than it was the week before, with players calling for a revert.2
  • Gnomonkey thinks Jagex rushed Sailing out for November right before the holiday break so Jagex staff cannot make further changes until around January, and suspects greed.3
  • Gnomonkey says Jagex should explain their thinking before updates land so the community can give feedback in advance, rather than nerfs arriving 'like a left hook out of a dark alleyway'.4
  • Gnomonkey says Jagex tends to nerf strong methods instantly while leaving weak or over-nerfed ones unchanged for weeks, which makes players feel they should abuse things early before they get nerfed.5

Events

  • The Sailing week 2 update (around 3 December 2025) nerfed essentially every Sailing training method, which Gnomonkey summarises as 'the answer is everything'.6
  • Jagex posted a follow-up update the same day in response to negative feedback, saying they planned further tweaks and would publish a more detailed post the next day on where rates are expected to sit.7
  • Jagex's response did not revert the changes; they said they would look at improving self-sort XP and give the Gwenith Glide trials some extra XP back, with no specific plans for port task weeks.8
