Forestry is an update topic that Gnomonkey covers in 3 videos between 2023-07-30 and 2025-01-27. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.

Requirements

  • A log basket is bought from the Forestry shop for 5,000 bark, 300 willow logs and 300 oak logs, and Gnomonkey says it lets you three-tick in Trouble Brewing but is not required.1

Methods

  • Gnomonkey describes forcing Forestry events: like the Motherlode Mine vein timer, a tree left for 30 seconds is chopped in one log when you return, and Forestry checks for random events when a tree is chopped down.2
  • To force Forestry events, Gnomonkey says to go to a solo tree and hop 20 to 30 worlds clicking the tree once in each, then hop back through the same worlds from the beginning, chopping each tree instantly for one log to trigger events very quickly.3

Stats and numbers

  • Forestry has 18 different types of minigame, but the player is still just chopping trees and occasionally doing a different thing.4

Tips

  • For fastest bark via forced Forestry events, Gnomonkey says to use the highest level tree available, such as magic trees or yews; he used Arctic pines on his account.5

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey describes Forestry as woodcutting with random events that turned every main tree, including Redwoods, into Motherlode Mine-style timed resource nodes with incredibly high XP rates.6
  • Gnomonkey says the Forestry random events are as simple as repeatedly clicking a log on the ground, adding a huge chunk of XP for players who interact with them.6
  • Gnomonkey says the only draw of Forestry is doing it with a large group, and that although increased XP feels good, the update added nothing substantial gameplay-wise; he finds it lazy, weak and unnecessary.7
  • Gnomonkey says Woodcutting already had varied training methods, naming two-tick and AFK teak, Sulliusceps, Redwoods, Urium and Blisterwood as good methods with differing intensity, and that Forestry removed any reason to use Sulliusceps because any Forestry tree gives the same or more XP per hour.8
  • Gnomonkey considers Forestry full of bloat, with many unnecessary tokens, eggs and minigames.4
  • Gnomonkey finds Forestry's random events, such as standing on a tile for 10 seconds, not engaging and says they do not add much to the gameplay.4

Events

  • Forestry worlds were still near full when he made the video, and says he is unsure whether that is mostly bots or players enjoying it.7
