Update: Yama contracts is an update topic that Gnomonkey covers in 2 videos between 2025-05-25 and 2025-05-29. This article is a stub: his statements are grouped by type, repeated ones merged.

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey considers the Yama contracts for the Radiant Oathplate kit the biggest failure of an update by Jagex to date.1
  • Per the video description, Gnomonkey says players should not have to pay gp to QA test for Jagex and that the update should not have been released on a weekend when a fix was unlikely.1
  • Gnomonkey says the Radiant Oathplate contracts are much harder than Blorva, even after hotfixes made them possible.2
  • Gnomonkey says the contracts felt like gimmick fights and like something you would do for a Combat Achievement rather than for a prestigious kit.3
  • Gnomonkey says players lost hundreds of millions of gp on the impossible contracts and he does not expect refunds.4
  • Gnomonkey says he completed all five contracts, that none are very good, and that as a whole they do not come close to the quality of any awakened boss.5
  • Gnomonkey says he will not attempt any more contracts until a Jagex moderator completes them and shows proof they are no longer bugged, because he cannot afford to QA test for Jagex.6
  • Gnomonkey says he does not plan to return to the contracts or make guides on them, and does not recommend them unless you are starved for content and really good at the game.7
  • Gnomonkey asks Jagex not to use the Yama contracts as requirements for Combat Achievements, since they would be by far the hardest in the game and players should not have to pay money to access a CA.8
  • Gnomonkey says that apart from one pizza-related change he hates, the late-May 2025 update (Yama contract changes, new combat achievements, GE tax change) is a pretty good update.9
  • Gnomonkey says overall he is really pleased with the update, having dreaded it beforehand; he calls the contract changes really solid and the combat achievements looking pretty nice.10
  • Gnomonkey thanks the Jagex mods for fixing the systems people complained about instead of shying away from the backlash, and says it is nice to feel heard as a high-level player.11
  • Gnomonkey compares this to Awakener's Orbs, where players complained about repeatability and access and felt their complaints fell on deaf ears with no system changes.11
  • Gnomonkey says he is looking forward to the Delve boss coming in a few months and, based on Jagex's response to Yama feedback, has high hopes that it will be improved even if it launches imperfect.12

Events

  • At launch the contracts had a daily purchase volume of five, which Jagex could not hotfix and left for a later update (a cold fix).2
  • Two of the five Yama kit contracts were literally impossible to complete at release and needed hotfixes, which Gnomonkey calls a huge failure on Jagex's part and a QA failure.13
  • Jagex announced a hotfix to correct wording on contracts of acquisition, to state that Yama is not weak to demonbane weaponry in those encounters, because before it the contract did not say so.14
