Methods

  • Gnomonkey's basic bursting setup: Slayer helmet (a black mask will not work for dust devil tasks, so unlock the helmet if considering bursting), best blessing, best Mage Arena cape, an Occult necklace, an Ancient staff, Proselyte armour, Barrows gloves, Mystic boots, and no ring or shield.1

Stats and numbers

  • The Occult necklace costs about 450k and provides a massive 10% magic damage bonus; Gnomonkey says to hold off on bursting entirely if you cannot afford it.2

Tips

  • An unholy book is also a great bursting choice if you already own one, with the same prayer bonus and only two less magic attack.3
  • You can buy the Master wand and sell it back later to afford the Tormented bracelet, and that the later upgrades are very expensive, so wait until you have a decently large bank value.4
  • The Ring of the Gods is only very good for bursting; Gnomonkey might skip it if close to 99 Magic and Slayer, but it saves money, and you can uncharge it for 80% of its NMZ points back and resell it after 99 Slayer.5

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says for burst tasks most people wear Proselyte armour for its prayer bonus, and some argue for vestment robes from clue scrolls, which give about 1% more DPS than Proselyte but 3 less prayer bonus; Ahrim's is only about 1.5% better DPS than Proselyte.6
