Topics covered
Opinion: Pet tier list
- (0:00) Gnomonkey's pet tier list is unscripted, unlike most of his videos, and is based on several factors with pet design and rarity most important, plus size and idle animation such as flying.
- (0:29) Gnomonkey stresses the list is purely his opinion and that anyone else making a tier list would make something different; he expects it to change in a few months.
- (2:44) Final S tier according to the video's placements: the Zamorak pet (K'ril Tsutsaroth), the dusted Lil' Zik from Theatre of Blood, the Chambers of Xeric dusted pets (Olmlet), the Inferno pet Jal-nib-rek, and the Nexling.
- (29:59) Gnomonkey says opinions on this list change with perspective and that lower-level accounts would probably completely change it.
- (31:02) Final A tier (as built during the video) includes Youngllef, Kalphite Queen, Kree'arra, Zilyana, Baby mole, Baby chinchompa, Bloodhound, Corporeal Beast's Dark core, Penance Queen, TzRek-Jad and the Dawn/Dusk pets at the bottom of A.
- (31:02) Final B tier includes Tangleroot, Smolcano, Ikkle Hydra, Bandos' Lil' Bandos, Zulrah's snakeling (low B), the three Wilderness pets (Venenatis, Callisto, Vet'ion), Rift guardian, Giant squirrel and Rock golem (low B).
- (31:02) Final C tier includes Tempoross' Tiny tempor at the top, Little nightmare, Scorpia's offspring, Abyssal orphan, Sraracha, Prince Black Dragon, the Thermonuclear smoke devil pet and the Beaver at the bottom.
- (31:02) Final D tier includes Phoenix at the top, Lil' Creator, Hellpuppy, Vorkath's Vorki, Heron, Rocky and Herbi; E tier has the Dagannoth Kings' pets, Chompy chick and Skotos; F tier has Chaos Elemental's pet and Kraken at the very bottom.
Kalphite Queen
- (5:05) Gnomonkey says he really likes the Kalphite Queen pet: it is quite rare, kills are slow, it is hard to use an alt for, and it is four tiles large and fills those tiles, one of only two four-tile pets in the game.
- (5:05) Gnomonkey puts the Kalphite Queen pet in A tier with no question because it looks so good, is rare and is tough to grind for.
- (16:28) Gnomonkey says he was wrong in his Kalphite Queen video: Scorpia's pet looks small but is four tiles, so it is the only other four-tile pet besides the Kalphite Queen.
Nex
- (28:52) Gnomonkey considers the Nexling an easy S: it does not even look that good to many people, but it is the only pet in the game that runs, so it cannot be placed anywhere else.
- (29:02) Gnomonkey places the Nexling just below the Chambers of Xeric dusted pet in S tier and above the Inferno pet.
Olmlet
- (21:21) Gnomonkey ranks the Chambers of Xeric challenge mode dusted pet (Olmlet) in S tier, saying it has so many good variants: the Vespula pet looks awesome and the Tiny Tekton walks faster than normal, which he loves.
- (27:07) Gnomonkey says the Olmlet is extremely rare: it is the second rarest hours grind in the game, and combined with the dust you can argue it is the rarest pet, even above the Bloodhound.
Tempoross
- (0:29) Gnomonkey says the Tempoross pet is a skilling pet that is really big with a cool water animation underneath, but not the best pet ever; he rates it plum average, ending at the top of C tier.
- (19:49) Gnomonkey says the Heron's blue transmog from Tempoross makes it a lot better, though he still rates the Heron D tier (it would be just above Kraken in its white form).
Tombs of Amascut
- (0:20) Gnomonkey calls the dusted Lil' Zik from Theatre of Blood S tier without thinking: the base Verzik pet is not very rare but the dust is quite rare and few have done hard mode, and almost every dusted variant looks great (Xarpus flapping, Maiden with a blood pool).
Inferno
- (17:01) Gnomonkey says the TzRek-Jad's best transmog version requires beating six jads, which proves you have done the Inferno, but says most people just used a cheat client to get it, making it less cool than many think.
- (27:26) Gnomonkey puts the Inferno pet (Jal-nib-rek / Nibbler, with a lava version) in S tier, just above the Zamorak pet: it is prestigious from one of the hardest content in the game, decently rare at about 1 in 40 on task, and the Nibbler nips you if you talk to it.
TzHaar Fight Cave
- (17:01) Gnomonkey says the TzRek-Jad pet is about 1 in 67 from a Fight Caves slayer task, so it takes a decent amount of time to get.
- (17:32) Gnomonkey puts the TzRek-Jad in low A tier, right at the bottom of A, calling it a very cool pet but less cool than the Inferno pet.
God Wars Dungeon
- (6:29) Gnomonkey says the Dagannoth Kings' pets are each 1 in 5,000, each their own pet, though they can still be farmed quickly with an alt.
- (7:50) Gnomonkey ranks Kree'arra's pet the second best God Wars pet (A tier), a giant flapping bird that will play dead and disappear for about five seconds if you talk to it.
- (8:02) God Wars Dungeon pets are all 1 in 5,000 drops and very rare; Gnomonkey calls Bandos the worst God Wars pet and puts it in B tier as the most common one.
- (8:32) Gnomonkey ranks Zilyana's pet third among God Wars pets, in A tier, finding it funny that she is a little human following you around.
- (9:21) Gnomonkey puts the Zamorak pet in S tier: it is red with spikes coming out, the rarest God Wars pet and one of the rarest pets in the game, which he thinks is number five for most people who obtained it.
Dagannoth Kings
- (5:49) Gnomonkey says the Dagannoth Rex pet is super common (everyone grinds Rex as a noob), a bland little grey dinosaur; he thinks Prime is the best of the Dagannoth Kings' pets and Prime is better than Supreme, but none are great.
- (5:49) Gnomonkey places the Dagannoth Kings' pets in D tier initially and later E tier, saying he does not like them because they are bland and not super rare.
Wilderness
- (13:26) Gnomonkey rates Venenatis' pet B tier: it is a big red spider, only 1 in 2,000, one of the easier Wilderness pets since it is at a low Wilderness level and killed faster than other Wilderness bosses, and it is easy to escape PKers but not easy to alt.
- (13:58) Gnomonkey says Callisto's pet is annoying to get (you get PKed all the time) but luring on an alt between two worlds is not that slow; it needs a slayer task, is 1 in 2,000, and he rates it B tier, above Venenatis.
- (14:44) Gnomonkey says Vet'ion's pet is one of the rarest Wilderness pets that almost nobody has, since killing him above level 30 Wilderness in multi-combat means you cannot teleport and clans can kill you, and he rates it the best Wilderness pet but in B tier like the others.
- (15:42) Gnomonkey says Scorpia's pet is the easiest Wilderness boss pet to get after the Chaos Elemental, about 20 hours with a Harmonised staff and an alt, and it can be boosted with around 10 people; he rates it high C tier.
Zulrah
- (11:59) Gnomonkey says Zulrah's pet is the only pet in the game at 1 in 4,000 as far as he knows, and has cool transmogs including the blue and magma versions.
- (11:59) Gnomonkey rates Zulrah's pet low B tier, noting many gold farmers have it but it is now a grind to go for.
Chaos Elemental
- (5:05) Gnomonkey says the Chaos Elemental pet is literally the most commonly obtained pet in the game and nearly the fastest grind at about five hours, and puts it in F tier because it looks like a fart cloud with tentacles.
Baby chinchompa
- (21:22) Gnomonkey calls the Baby chinchompa the best skilling pet, saying it is cool looking, the chat head is exceptional and it bounces slowly behind you; he places it in A tier, below Corporeal Beast's pet and better than TzRek-Jad and the Penance pet.
- (21:36) Gnomonkey criticises how the gold chinchompa transmog is obtained (transforming it repeatedly at about 1 in 10k, a few hours just to get the transmog) and says black chinchompas are now harder since you cannot log out on the hobgoblins, leaving red chinchompas as the only way to go for it.
Skilling pets
- (19:49) Gnomonkey says the Heron is the most common skilling pet and one of the most common pets overall; he rated it F for a long time, now D tier since the blue transmog makes it better.
- (20:00) Gnomonkey says the Rock golem pet is hated by many but has a funny chat head with a goofy grin and can be coloured almost any way; mining is annoying and he rates it low B tier, above Zulrah.
- (20:30) Gnomonkey calls the Beaver one of the easiest skilling pets, gotten by AFK chopping redwoods for a long time (great while making an alt), and rates it bottom C tier.
- (22:09) Gnomonkey says the Bloodhound is the rarest pet in the game hour-wise but he thinks it is ugly, placing it in the middle of A tier, just above Baby mole.
- (23:09) Gnomonkey says the Giant squirrel (Agility pet) looks very cool especially the Blood squirrel with the dark acorn from the Hallowed Sepulchre, and rates it B tier next to Smolcano.
- (24:08) Gnomonkey says Rocky (Thieving) is the fastest skilling pet, needing two alts with Ardougne-style stalls (as heard, "Fremie stalls") in about 20 hours; he prefers the red panda version and rates it D tier just above Heron.
- (25:11) Gnomonkey says the Rift guardian pet took about 30 million Runecrafting-related XP of bloods to get, has cool transmogs (he has the water altar blue version), and rates it B tier between the Wilderness pets.
- (26:12) Gnomonkey rates Phoenix top D tier, saying it is common and cool looking with transmogs from fire lighters (purple being his favourite).
- (26:35) Gnomonkey says Tangleroot (as heard, "Groot") is one of the rarest skilling pets time-wise and one of the better-looking, rated B tier, and that no skilling pet is in S tier.
- (29:23) Gnomonkey says Herbi (Herbiboar) is one of the easier hunter pets to get, nearly AFK with about 10 seconds of running per click, but he dislikes that it is yellow like a dying herbivore, and rates it D tier above Rocky.
Penance Queen
- (10:36) Gnomonkey says the Penance Queen pet is one of the rarest in the game, requires a ton of Barbarian Assault gambles, and you make a lot of money going for it by selling leeches, roughly 7 billion from the grind.
- (10:49) Gnomonkey says the pet is a giant doofy bug that is not great looking; he puts it at the bottom of A tier, leaning B, because it is very rare.
Corporeal Beast
- (11:19) Gnomonkey says the Corporeal Beast pet is 1 in 5,000, kills are super slow, and you pretty much have to boost it, making it an expensive gp sink.
- (11:19) Gnomonkey rates the Corporeal Beast pet lower A (a big spiky dog-looking thing), better than the Penance Queen pet.
Alchemical Hydra
- (4:51) Gnomonkey says the Alchemical Hydra pet needs 95 Slayer to start killing, but as a gp boss everyone grinds it so the pet is not that uncommon and does not take many hours; he likes the blue and grey versions and rates it B tier.
Slayer pets
- (4:22) Gnomonkey says the Sraracha pet received many new colours and the blue one looks cool, but it is not rare or hard to get (you can dolo it with an alt or boost with more alts) and rates it C tier.
- (7:19) Gnomonkey rates the Thermonuclear smoke devil pet C: it is a really easy slayer boss pet to get, about the same rate as Kraken but with a slightly higher requirement, easily killed with a scythe or Harmonised staff, though the glowing flash bulb looks cool.
- (9:55) Gnomonkey says Kraken's pet is super common at about 100 kills per hour with a Harmonised staff, the ugliest pet in the game (a yellow octopus), so he puts it in F at the very bottom.
- (18:35) Gnomonkey says the Abyssal orphan from Abyssal Sire is a big cool pet with four pony legs, easy with an alt that spec-transfers or heals, and puts it high C tier next to Scorpia.
- (30:01) Gnomonkey says the Dawn and Dusk pets from the Grotesque Guardians come from the hardest slayer boss and give little profit (use Blood fury or you go negative); he likes the flapping purple Dawn pet and puts it at the bottom of A, calling it a brutal grind.
Baby mole
- (6:53) Gnomonkey says the Baby mole is one of the cuter pets in the game and really easy to get just by killing the Giant Mole with a twisted bow, and puts it in A tier, though the naked version is just wrong and no one should use it.
- (31:31) Gnomonkey later places the Baby mole next to the Baby chinchompa in A, because it is so easy to get but very cute.
Youngllef
- (2:01) Gnomonkey says Youngllef from the Gauntlet is a very cool pet, takes a lot of skill and time, and he loves the blue version (blue is superior, while the red version people use is insane); he puts it in A tier, near the top.
Soul Wars
- (1:00) Gnomonkey says the Soul Wars pet (Lil' Creator) is funny looking, a giant-mouthed doofy pet, and is easy to get with an alt in about 30 hours, so he places it in D tier.
The Nightmare
- (1:30) Gnomonkey says many people like the Nightmare pet but he really does not; it takes a lot of hours and is hard to get but is nothing exceptional, so he gives it C tier.
Vorkath
- (28:02) Gnomonkey says Vorkath is a standard money boss everyone does and he is not a huge fan of its pet, a little blue dragon, placing it in D tier just above Hellpuppy.
Chompy chick
- (12:53) Gnomonkey says the Chompy chick is technically the fastest-grind pet in the game at about two hours, but you need Western Provinces elite diary to go get it.
- (12:53) Gnomonkey rates the Chompy chick E tier, a doofy dodo-like bird that is too common and dumb-looking.
Skotizo
- (24:39) Gnomonkey says everyone has the Skotos pet, a cool-looking purple demon with a big orb on its back, and puts it at the top of E tier for design.
