Requirements

  • The Maggot King budget setup uses Torms, the Mage cape, full switches and a Tome of fire, and Gnomonkey calls it pretty good.1

Tips

  • Ironmen can sell Castle Wars rune arrows and javelins to shops for alchemy value, making the crates a very good early gp source.2
  • The typical fresh ironman play is to go to Soul Wars at 500 total level for runes, arrows and armour to sell for gold.3
  • Not to cut down your gear switches when using fire spells against the Maggot King, because you need the accuracy; even dropping a cape swap costs about 30 seconds per kill.4
  • Gnomonkey brings an antidote (the boss poisons for 8), three restores (he has used two to four), and a divine super combat to the Maggot King.5
  • To bring full mage switches to the Maggot King and not cut the switches down.6

Gnomonkey's opinion

  • Gnomonkey says early game Ironman is fun because you constantly get progress, jump around the game, and can do micro efficiency like multitasking and planning ahead, so he understands why people like it.7
  • Gnomonkey says endgame Ironman is not fun, though he admits he has not gotten there and doubts the group will on these accounts, while early to mid-game Ironman is fine.8
  • Gnomonkey says mid-game Ironman has some bad grinds like the Bow of Faerdhinen, but also easy fast levels, big dopamine and a lot of skill to speed things up.8
