Topics covered
Inferno
- (0:00) Gnomonkey attempts a low level hardcore ironman Inferno on stream with 92 prayer after previous unsuccessful attempts.
- (1:01) Gnomonkey says his Zuk fight takes about 15 minutes: four sets at about three and a half minutes each, plus a bonus two minutes when Zuk pauses.
- (1:01) Gnomonkey says he would prefer the first Zuk to take about four to five minutes, which he considers ideal.
- (3:31) Gnomonkey says Varlamore updates have made the Inferno much easier, especially early, because it used to require a mage shortbow or rune crossbow, a lot of flicking and about 19 restores at Zuk.
- (4:17) Gnomonkey says the Inferno is still hard at Zuk but the rest is a cakewalk by comparison.
- (4:37) Gnomonkey says the main thing that made Inferno easier is prayer regeneration potions, and that crossbow capes used to be very impressive.
- (7:40) On his second attempt of the stream, Gnomonkey died in the Inferno to four bat hits totalling 75 damage at around wave 42, with bats having roughly 40% accuracy against him; chat estimated the odds at about one in 20,000, and a viewer simulation suggested it was rarer than that.
- (12:50) Gnomonkey says the pillars other than the one he is at are purely a distraction that takes aggro off the main pillar, which gives time to kill monsters in later waves.
- (29:52) Gnomonkey says wave 56 is a sticking point that many consider the second hardest wave, and that the hardest waves are 62 and 63.
- (40:00) Gnomonkey says players can practise prayer flicking by enabling the prayer bar in the prayer plugin and double clicking when the bar is towards the beginning of the icon, which makes flicking essentially free.
- (42:54) Gnomonkey describes the final waves as double ranger with the mage, then double mage, then single Jad, then triple Jad, then Zuk.
- (48:00) Gnomonkey says Jad has 480 defence, which is why he hits many zeros against him.
- (1:18:13) Gnomonkey defeated TzKal-Zuk on his low level hardcore ironman after three attempts in the stream, with an adamant crossbow and ruby bolts, finishing with two brews and two doses of restore left.
Prayer regeneration potion
- (1:02) Gnomonkey says the new prayer regeneration potions were crazy good for the Inferno, saving so much inventory space and letting him use only two sips of restore for the Zuk.
- (1:32) Gnomonkey says the prayer regeneration potions do not scale with prayer level, so at low prayer they are worth the same as at 99, making them very good early.
- (1:32) Gnomonkey says that even with the regeneration potions you still need many restores for the 15-minute Zuk fight, and that eight restores at Zuk with 70 prayer is still a bit scary.
- (4:37) Gnomonkey notes the regeneration potions used to be bright pink and are now brown, which he dislikes.
- (5:04) According to Gnomonkey, a prayer regeneration potion restores one prayer point every 12 ticks and lasts 12 minutes per dose, making each roughly worth two prayer restores, or about two and a half restores at his low prayer level.
- (5:04) Gnomonkey says a full prayer regeneration potion is worth about seven and a half restores for him.
Atlatl
- (13:15) Gnomonkey says the Atlatl is really good with a Fury and would normally pair with an Occult necklace and an Anguish, and that the only reason to want a Fury for the Inferno is the Atlatl.
- (13:15) Gnomonkey says the Atlatl usually performs close to a blowpipe and was beating the blowpipe with an Anguish and amethyst darts in this setup.
- (14:00) Gnomonkey says he tried the Atlatl and sees why others skip the Bow of Faerdhinen, calling its DPS insane, though he is torn about skipping it because of the Bow's use at Mystics; he says the Atlatl is good enough to get away with not getting it.
- (20:20) Gnomonkey says the Atlatl can reach Zuk only at dead center, since its range is only six tiles (or eight tiles after a fix), and that it is worse than a crossbow until very late, so he uses it only after the healers.
- (54:54) Gnomonkey says the Atlatl makes flicking easy because its attacks are on a nine-tick speed that fits with the prayer flick rhythm.
Hardcore Ironman
- (0:02) Gnomonkey is doing the stream on a hardcore ironman account, with a low level range and a level 92 prayer.
- (12:15) Gnomonkey says dying in the Inferno is a safe death on a regular hardcore ironman and does not lose hardcore status, whereas on a group hardcore ironman dying there loses status.
- (13:15) Gnomonkey says activities like the Nightmare Zone and Pest Control are dangerous on hardcore, and that group hardcore is more dangerous despite having more lives.
- (23:47) Gnomonkey says he would prefer Inferno to be a dangerous death on hardcore because it would be more fun, but says hardcore was made with these rules originally and should stay that way, which is why group hardcore was made different.
- (26:50) Gnomonkey says group hardcore is locked to prestige, and a solo group hardcore would lock him out of raids like the Theatre of Blood or Nex, so he can only get items by soloing.
Opinion: Jagex CEO survey apology
- (5:16) Gnomonkey says that without further membership changes he does not expect Jagex to say anything until the following week and has little more to add beyond his two videos on the topic.
- (21:18) Gnomonkey says Jagex has confirmed it will explore adding ads to free-to-play, but not to regular membership.
- (22:29) Gnomonkey says the community loves Jagex for reasons he does not understand, and that the dev team, which he praises as one of the best for listening to feedback, is very different from the corporate monetization decision makers.
Elden Ring
- (33:20) Gnomonkey says his controversial take is that he does not really like Malenia in Elden Ring because her tells are poorly telegraphed, with nothing indicating how to dodge a move, a flaw he says he sees in RuneScape as well.
