Summary

A Challenge Mode Chambers of Xeric solo world record attempt in which Gnomonkey is at or near record pace in almost every room, but the run is lost in the Great Olm fight. Topics covered

Chambers of Xeric

  • (0:00) Gnomonkey says in the description that the run had minor misplays but near-record pacing in each room.
  • (1:00) At around 1:00 Gnomonkey reports a timer bug, which he says is caused by the CoX Analytics plugin.
  • (2:23) Gnomonkey completes the Shamans room in 53 seconds, which he repeatedly calls nuts.
  • (4:29) At 7:42 into the run, Gnomonkey says the record pace at that point was around 7:50, which he calls crazy fast.
  • (5:57) Gnomonkey gets Thieving done in sub nine minutes of run time.
  • (6:55) At about 6:55 per Gnomonkey the run was 'a 1050-ish down' versus the record down at about 11:01, putting him around 15 seconds ahead of the record holder, though he notes the record holder got ridiculous luck on that floor.
  • (8:50) At one point Gnomonkey says a section is about a minute and a half faster than he has ever had.
  • (20:13) Gnomonkey says his Challenge Mode CoX solo world record attempt would have been easily a 24:40 run if Olm had not been unlucky, but it ended in a failure at the final boss.
  • (20:13) Gnomonkey lists his room times after the run: Tekton 1:10 (58 crabs, 1:53 pop, which he calls decent), Ice Demon 2:30 (which he calls so-so), Shamans 53 seconds, Vanguards 2:07, with Thieving, Vespula, Guardians, Vasa and Mystics all called insane and Muttadile pretty good.
  • (20:13) Gnomonkey says Vespula, Shamans, Vanguards, Thieving, Guardians, Vasa and Mystics were all close to or at record pace, and that he has never seen a faster Thieving room than the one in this run.

Great Olm

  • (0:00) The description says Olm decided to be a Grinch this December and made the attempt the most tragic ending to a world record speedrun attempt in CM CoX.
  • (17:30) The run fails at the Olm fight: Gnomonkey dies close to the door and says the healing was extremely tight throughout.
  • (20:13) Gnomonkey says he used a ton of brews in the Olm fight, and the head phase repeatedly hit him with jat attacks, with burn and acid on him, so he couldn't tick-eat and couldn't hit the head; he says he misplayed a little but it was mostly an unlucky head phase.
  • (21:20) Gnomonkey says he will never see a run like that again, calling it probably a one in fifty thousand run.
