Topics covered

Challenge: WoW vs OSRS high risk Tombs of Amascut

  • (0:00) The video is a collaboration where World of Warcraft streamers face OSRS grandmaster-level players in a 150 invocation Tombs of Amascut run, framed as a test of whether gear matters or technical skill makes the grandmasters far better than the WoW newcomers.
  • (0:04) The video description says the winning OSRS player got 30 subs from the WoW streamers and bragging rights.
  • (4:01) An alternative idea to cap the grandmasters at around 2 million GP of gear was floated but the group instead chose the naked bone-only rule.
  • (5:01) The agreed rules were no armour, gloves, cloak, neck, offhand, ring or boots, bone weapons only, and salmon as the only food.
  • (1:16:36) The group cleared the 150 raid in about 70 minutes, which players called genuinely crazy given the restrictions.
  • (1:17:05) At the end Gnomonkey's damage topped the scoreboard at about 50% of the raid's damage, which players called a fraud because his thralls did probably half of it; the 30-sub reward was discussed as going to him.
  • (1:18:41) After the raid someone suggested running a 500 or 600 invocation raid with everything on, where it becomes about who is alive last.

Bone weapons

  • (6:05) The allowed weapons for the challenge were the bone dagger, bone crossbow and bone halberd, and the group later also used a bone spear.
  • (7:59) Before the raid a player said any bone crossbow hitsplat over 23 would indicate cheating; a 23 was hit later in the Wardens fight.
  • (18:49) The bone crossbow's range was noted as six tiles, which players kept forgetting, and its range was described as bad.
  • (24:47) Players judged the bone spear much slower than the bone dagger and worse for damage, with one calling it absolute trolling and recommending daggers instead.
  • (34:43) Gnomonkey and others noted during Akkha that the bone dagger spec seemed more accurate than the bone crossbow.
  • (1:07:02) Players said the bone crossbow shredded the Wardens with range and joked it was broken and should be nerfed, calling it like a mega rare.
  • (1:08:00) During the Wardens fight players discovered that iron bolts could be used with the bone crossbow.

Tombs of Amascut

  • (18:49) Players discussed whether the group could pump the raid to a 300 invocation with their gear and concluded their DPS was just not there.
  • (23:46) Gnomonkey, an Ironman, notes that Ironman accounts cannot take supplies even from raid supply rewards, so he could not give restores to the WoW players.
  • (41:34) In the later boss fights smelling salts were running out, with a player noting a level 600 Akkha has 1400 HP.
  • (56:59) The run was a 150 invocation Tombs of Amascut, and after clearing a boss a player said it was difficulty 150 but felt like 300 because of who they were playing with.
  • (1:09:01) Gnomonkey and others say getting through the raid mostly requires knowing left from right and counting to three, joking that is all that is needed to be a grandmaster.

Thralls

  • (7:03) The group debated whether thralls and the Book of the Dead were allowed; Showbeck objected, but the other players voted to allow thralls and the Book of the Dead.
  • (13:00) Players noted during Kephri that the only damage getting done by the group was through thralls, and the group repeatedly told everyone to re-thrall during the raid.
  • (1:21:15) Gnomonkey said his thralls probably did about half of his damage in the raid, which affected how the top score was viewed.

Kephri

  • (10:22) At Kephri the group had to deal with eggs, scarabs and beetles using only bone weapons, and players found the bone weapons too slow to deal with the room cleanly.
  • (11:28) In the Kephri room the grandmasters were told to take flies while the WoW players took big beetles.
  • (13:00) At Kephri players dropped to very low HP, ran out of prayer and food, and had to eat salmon and ignore eggs to stay alive.

Zebak

  • (15:48) The Zebak fight started with the group asking what the easiest next step to get potions would be, and players going to the Zebak room after Kephri.
  • (16:16) At Zebak a teammate failed to wait a tick when using the water container, which the group joked about repeatedly.
  • (20:21) Players watched the waves and flicked range prayer at Zebak, with the group trying to two-tile the wall mechanic.
  • (22:49) Gnomonkey and the group noted that at the lowest raid level Zebak's blood splats do not off-tick, which one player called terrible game design because it forces players to do it at higher levels where they are off-tick.

Ba-Ba

  • (24:20) At Baba the group dealt with walls and pillars, with players calling directions for the sequence and one joking that a call was just a random direction.
  • (26:13) Before one fight the group agreed not to enter until a leader called it, then split four and four and swapped aggro; a player died in the middle of the room.

Akkha

  • (31:43) The group reached Akkha at invocation level 3, and Gnomonkey said it was the most insane thing he had done, noting a previous high-risk ToA ended with 50 deaths (said at 32:09).
  • (33:37) During Akkha the group struggled with the colour orb mechanics and burning, calling colours like yellow, black, red and white while moving to avoid the attacks.
  • (38:39) Players accused each other of killing teammates during Akkha by moving at the wrong time; a player later said Odablock killed him eight percent into Akkha, and others joked the group took less damage after Odablock died.
  • (40:37) The group used tears next to each other to restore prayer during Akkha, and a player cast blood barrage from the back to heal.
  • (50:31) In a later boss phase players coordinated bone dagger specs for burst, with a player noting the boss had only 900 health and could regenerate in 10 ticks.

The Wardens

  • (58:27) The group started the Wardens with a three-three split, with a salmon tile marked, and agreed to stack where needed.
  • (1:02:58) In the Wardens fight the group planned a final bone spear hit at specific hit counts on a phase, with Gnomonkey and others saying not to miss the bone spear, and they used adrenaline potions and DDS specs as well.
  • (1:03:32) Players concluded range was much better than mage against the Wardens with bone weapons and that they should have spawned the other Warden.
  • (1:09:54) Players were low on salmon during the Wardens and traded brews and smelling salts, with several players dying until the grandmasters were the last standing.
  • (1:16:36) The Wardens were defeated at about 70 minutes into the raid, with a purple drop announced.

Salmon

  • (5:01) Salmon was the only food allowed for the challenge, and players repeatedly dropped salmon for each other to eat.
  • (11:57) Players repeatedly ran out of salmon and joked about stealing it; one WoW player said he was saving his salmon for the Wardens.
