Summary
A guide to Gnomonkey's efficient Dagannoth Kings method: tribrid gear switches with an alt account carrying supplies, jumping between the two caves and off-ticking the kings, for about 120 king kills and 3.2m gp per hour. He recommends it mainly for the pets and as Inferno-style practice, and covers the long run, each king, death recovery and loot.

Topics covered
Dagannoth Kings
- (0:00) Gnomonkey describes Dagannoth Kings as the old classic staple of Old School RuneScape, known as a fairly easy and boring Slayer boss.
- (0:00) His efficient method jumps between the DK caves, which dramatically speeds the kills up and turns it into a 'mini Inferno solve'; he calls it great practice for Inferno.
- (0:00) Doing all three kings with his method, Gnomonkey says you can reach about 120 king kills per hour.
- (0:33) At an average of about 27k gp per king, 120 king kills per hour comes to about 3.2m gp per hour before supply costs, which Gnomonkey says is a lot higher than he expected.
- (0:33) Gnomonkey says the main reason anyone does Dagannoth Kings is the pets, and recommends doing regular Dagannoths for Slayer until you have strong gear to come back to the kings.
- (0:33) Gnomonkey says Dagannoth Kings has about the highest gear requirement of almost any boss because you are tribrid, especially with the alt account.
- (1:02) He highly recommends completing Fremennik Elites (the Fremennik elite diary) before coming, as it notes all the bone drops, which are a significant chunk of the profit.
- (1:02) Much of the gear can be downgraded, but a Twisted bow is very important for being able to hop between caves; a Bow of Faerdhinen would technically work but is 30% worse DPS than Twisted bow here.
- (5:59) Hop worlds at the crack until you find a world with no adventurers in either cave.
Dagannoth Kings
- (1:30) With an alt carrying supplies, Gnomonkey is max ranged initially with Primordial boots and Berserker ring, and uses a six-way melee switch (downgrading Torva to Bandos is not a big deal).
- (1:30) Zaryte vambraces are absolutely massive here, raising max hit from 83 to 86 with the max ranged boost; the boost is smaller if you cannot use divines because you have no alt.
- (1:30) Gnomonkey says Blood fury could be used for no max hit loss with Torva but is expensive and kind of unnecessary, and may allow claws instead of SGS though he has not tested it.
- (1:56) He brings Harmonised nightmare staff with only the major damage-boosting magic items; Ancestral would be a DPS boost but trip lengths are limited by prayer potions so he does not bring it.
- (1:56) Main account supplies are two antidotes and two each of divine super combat and divine ranging, two rune throwing axes to get into the caves, eight prayer potions, Saradomin godsword for sustain, and a Max cape; replace the cape with a construction cape or Relleka teleport if you do not have one.
- (1:56) Gnomonkey found the alt alone was not enough sustain, hence the Saradomin godsword.
- (2:29) He uses the stamina boost on the Max cape to reach DKs (otherwise a stamina or Explorer's ring), and a rune pouch with Wrath, Nature and Air runes to alch drops with the Tome of fire/water equipped.
- (2:29) Equip the Tome first in the switch or it will remove your autocast, and make sure you are on the standard spellbook.
- (2:55) The alt wears Graceful with some tank gear (Hitpoints cape, regen bracelet, Bryophyta's staff) and packs three sets of divines, two extra antidotes, a stamina potion, an emergency brew and fourteen extra prayer potions (one should be a restore if bringing the brew).
- (2:55) The alt also brings a Relleka teleport and cosmic, astral, blood, body and law runes to cast Heal Other, Energy Transfer and Dream to regenerate HP faster; the highest requirement is 91 Magic for Energy Transfer, and an alt without the Magic level can still carry supplies.
- (3:24) Gnomonkey thinks Dream and Heal Other are plenty of HP for the alt, though you could theoretically use Guthan's to heal.
- (3:25) Without an alt, downgrade the Harmonised staff for something else and bring a special weapon if you have it since Spinolyps can drain your prayer; bring about three regular ranging and super combat potions (no spare HP for divines), plus Sanfew serums for prayer and antidote effect.
- (3:25) Without an alt, Gnomonkey says it will take some flicking to get through a task.
- (3:55) Without an alt you need a pet rock to get there, two rune throwing axes, an emergency brew, Saradomin godsword, Imbued heart, and a pouch with Blood, Death and Soul runes on Ancients for Blood Barrage healing on Rex, plus an Explorer's ring for the run through the lair and alching.
Dagannoth Kings
- (3:55) Before going to the DK lair, turn the NPC Aggression Timer plugin on for the alt; it must be done before arriving or it will not work.
- (3:55) Gnomonkey calls this one of the longest and hardest runs for any boss in the game.
- (4:27) Prep a stamina dose on the main, have both accounts teleport to Relleka with the alt following the main, head to Waterbirth Island and into the cave, and camp prayer on both accounts.
- (4:27) In the first cave, stand on both pressure plates to open the door, run past the crabs and use a rune throwing axe special attack on the barricade; the axes can be dropped afterwards.
- (5:00) Prayer along the run: ladder down praying magic, next ladder ranged, past the crabs praying melee, then ranged past the Dagannoths, magic against the wall of Sulki (Slashers/Spinolyps area), then melee past the crabs, with Gnomonkey spec-transferring from his alt for the final burst of run energy.
- (5:28) At the end of the run, pray melee past the lobsters, pass the DK trapdoors and stand in the safe corner on both accounts; the alt rests there to recover HP and, once he loses aggro after about ten minutes, sits in front of the route to Heal Other and spec-transfer the main when he comes up from the king's lair.
Dagannoth Prime
- (5:58) Dagannoth Prime is magic-based and his magic attack maxes a 50 according to Gnomonkey, about twice the max hit of the other two kings; he is the only truly dangerous king, so if you are tanking damage Prime is the priority to protect against.
- (6:28) Each king has its own square of wander range: Rex wanders farthest in the south-east quadrant, Prime wanders the middle, and Supreme wanders closest; Prime can still be in range of the ladder when you go down, which is why Gnomonkey prays ranged on entry.
- (6:28) The hardest part of the method is to off-tick Prime and Supreme; if both are on you when you go down, go right back up, wait a few seconds and go down praying magic, hoping only Supreme is in range.
- (6:58) Gnomonkey kills Prime first because he is the most dangerous, and the Twisted bow's ten-tile range lets you avoid Rex from almost any angle.
- (6:58) To off-tick: when Supreme is attacking you, wait for the animation of his next attack and then fire at Prime; this puts them two ticks apart and allows a simple flicking pattern, switching prayer when you see the animation of the other monster start.
- (7:30) In the rare case where only Prime attacks you on entry, avoid flicking and run to the north-west corner of the cave and fight him alone; if you drop below 50 HP, come back up and have the alt heal you before trying again.
- (7:30) You can also off-tick them if they hit on the same tick by walking under Supreme as Prime fires, but this is a lot more dangerous.
Dagannoth Supreme
- (6:28) Dagannoth Supreme is ranged and Dagannoth Rex is melee; the kings follow the combat triangle but are not invincible against the wrong style, just very tanky.
- (7:42) Once Prime is dealt with, switch to melee and attack Supreme; if you are at 100% special, always drop a Saradomin godsword spec on Supreme regardless of his HP for the prayer restoration.
Dagannoth Rex
- (7:57) If Rex aggros onto you while dealing with Supreme, run to the back corner and safespot him while praying ranged, and kill Rex first; Gnomonkey wears Armadyl to protect more from the Spinolyps in that case.
- (7:57) Gnomonkey likes killing Rex last because it lets him pray melee and run around collecting drops from the other kings while attacking Rex, which saves a lot of time; in magic gear with the Tome he can also alch the drops while running.
- (8:28) After collecting everything, bring Rex to a corner to safespot him, praying magic to protect from the Spinolyps; after killing all three, grab the loot, go up and jump into the other cave.
- (8:28) If you need health, have the alt spec-transfer you, and if you run out of prayer potions, trade more supplies over from the alt.
Dagannoth Kings
- (8:28) Gnomonkey died during the trip in a 'very dumb way' and used it to show how to recover items, since DKs is one of the most dangerous places to die in the game.
- (8:56) At DKs the grave stays in the lair and you have fifteen minutes to get back, which Gnomonkey says is more than enough time, despite horror stories of people sending their grave to Death's coffer and paying over 30m to retrieve items.
- (8:56) To recover: grab a pet rock, throwing axes, prayer potions and (more than he does) food from the bank, run the same route, go down praying ranged, and wait until Prime is not at the grave by going up and down; right-click the grave and loot, going up and down to equip gear and drop items for the rest.
- (9:25) If you die a second time while grabbing items they will likely go to the coffer before you can get back, so be careful and do not panic.
Dagannoth Kings
- (9:25) The kings' main drops are the rings; the only valuable ones are Berserker ring (currently 2.2m) and Archers ring (about 4m); Gnomonkey says he does not know why the Archers ring has value because it is nearly useless.
- (9:55) The regular drops, mainly bones, add up; Harmonised nightmare staff helps reduce supply cost, but it is still not cheap, though 3.2m gp per hour before supplies is not terrible.
- (9:55) There is a pet for each king, each 1/5,000; on paper that is about 125 hours for all three at 120 kills per hour, but in practice longer because of the run and because efficiency drops drastically once you get one pet.
Gnomonkey
- (10:28) Gnomonkey says he was going to do Dagannoth Kings on his Twitch channel around the video's upload and that he had just recently become a Twitch affiliate, so people can now subscribe.
