Summary

A guide to soloing General Graardor with the Bow of Faerdhinen and crystal armour using the '9:0' cannon-base red-click method, which Gnomonkey says reaches about 25 kills per hour and 3.5m GP per hour at 99 Ranged. It covers requirements, setup, tile markers and plugins, the checkpoint cycle, and the cost of charges.

Topics covered

General Graardor

  • (0:00) Gnomonkey says Bandos (General Graardor) has always been one of the harder God Wars Dungeon bosses to solo: maging him is really bad DPS and 6:0 with an armadyl crossbow is probably even worse.
  • (0:29) Graardor does not have the 200 Magic of the other bosses, so a twisted bow does not work for soloing him, according to Gnomonkey.
  • (0:29) With the Bow of Faerdhinen and crystal armour, Gnomonkey says you can get kills per hour similar to the other God Wars bosses with a twisted bow, easily hitting 25 kills per hour at 99 Ranged in max gear.
  • (0:29) Gnomonkey says this is also one of the best methods to unlock the solo Bandos combat achievements at the higher tiers.
  • (8:15) Average Bandos trips last from 25 to as many as 75 kills, and trips last as long as you get restore drops for.
  • (8:15) Per the wiki, a Bandos kill is worth about 145k GP on average including the minions, which at 25 kills per hour gives about 3,625,000 GP per hour; Gnomonkey rounds this down to 3.5m for gearing and kill count.
  • (8:15) Gnomonkey says if you watch this in the future, take the wiki's value per kill and multiply it by 25 to get GP per hour.
  • (8:41) Without uniques Bandos is only worth about 24k a kill, so you really need the Bandos chestplate and tassets drops to make money here.

General Graardor

  • (3:35) Graardor is the fastest kill count of the whole God Wars Dungeon, and faster still with the Bofa setup: hop to a free world, run around the main area tagging every goblin, then kill goblins near the door until a hammer drops.
  • (3:35) To enter, drop a restore potion inside the door, pick up the hammer and go through, drop another restore on the other side, go back for the first, go through one last time dropping the hammer and taking your full supplies.
  • (4:22) Gnomonkey recommends enabling 'highlight true tile' in the Tile Indicators plugin, turning on Boss Timers and marking General Graardor in NPC Indicators, and importing his tile markers into RuneLite via the world map import option.
  • (4:54) The orange marker is where the cannon base is placed to perform red clicks, and each tile is a checkpoint 'like Mario Kart'; the cycle starts at the green marker between kills with two shots at Graardor.
  • (4:54) Cycle: fire twice at Graardor from the green marker, run to checkpoint one and fire again, then checkpoints two to five firing once each, and at checkpoint six fire and then click the cannon base.
  • (5:20) Because you red-clicked to path to the cannon base, Graardor is stuck in place while you run through him, so you always safely run straight through him.
  • (5:20) As soon as your true tile is over checkpoint seven, fire again, then move to eight and nine firing each time, then loop back to checkpoint one until Graardor is dead.
  • (5:20) It is a nine-attack cycle taking zero hits from Graardor, which is why the method is called 9:0.
  • (5:20) If you lose a tick, move to the next checkpoint and pray melee until Graardor falls back into the cycle, which usually takes a couple of checkpoints and always fixes itself.
  • (5:52) If you mess up, Gnomonkey often runs immediately to checkpoint six and through him again with the cannon, or runs up to checkpoint nine and waits for him to approach before going to checkpoint one.
  • (5:52) To eat mid-fight, eat, run to the next checkpoint, click Graardor as if firing the bow, then move to the next checkpoint; the grey tiles are optional clicks that save some run energy.
  • (6:21) Before entering the room, sip a Divine bastion, hit the imbued heart, turn on Preserve, and use Protect from Melee and Rigor; the private instance pulls the coins directly from your bank if you have them unlocked.
  • (6:21) On entering, fire at Graardor and let him walk closer, run through him and immediately set the cannon base on the orange tile; Gnomonkey says you will likely take at least two hits while setting up.
  • (6:48) Once the cannon base is down, run to checkpoint nine, fire once, wait for Graardor to get closer, then run to checkpoint one and start the cycle; the move from nine to one is lenient so you are almost always fine.
  • (6:48) Switch to Protect from Range when it is safe, as the ranged minion hits the hardest.

General Graardor

  • (6:48) After Graardor dies, turn run off, equip the max cape if you have it, and immediately switch to the blowpipe and kill the mage minion with specs and Rigor.
  • (7:17) Try to flick the minions' attacks, which reduces the blood runes needed to restore HP and guarantees you return to 99 HP; damage is calculated as soon as the animation starts on the minion.
  • (7:17) Gnomonkey says flicking is a useful skill to learn for the Inferno and recommends practising in a safe environment like God Wars.
  • (7:17) Stand near the ranged minion and Blood Barrage the melee and ranged minions, flicking both; if you hit 99 HP or there is excess food drops, pipe these two down to speed it up and save blood runes.
  • (7:43) Between kills, juggle extra restore drops if you cannot fit them, keep run energy off when possible so it stays high, pick up drops, use the altar for prayer if not on cooldown, and walk to the green start tile with run on for the next kill.
  • (7:43) The cannon must be picked up and put back down before 20 minutes or it will despawn; if it despawns or you are forced to teleport out, you can get a replacement from Nulodion.
  • (8:15) Trips are limited to two and a half hours at most by divine potion doses, but you usually run out of restores at the one to two hour mark.

General Graardor

  • (0:57) Gnomonkey puts 90 Ranged as the bare minimum for solo Bandos with the Bofa and 99 as ideal because it provides a lot of max hits.
  • (0:57) He puts 80 Prayer as the minimum, since higher Prayer lengthens trips, and 80 Agility as the minimum, because high Agility means less run restoration (close to no stamina potions at 99 Agility).
  • (0:57) An Explorer's ring 4 allows high alchemy and extra run energy restoration, so it is ideal.
  • (1:27) Gnomonkey highly recommends at least the hard combat diary for private instances, as Bandos is extremely packed and teams can crash you on a public world.
  • (1:27) Song of the Elves must be completed to make crystal equipment.
  • (1:27) Gnomonkey's gear: full crystal armour, Bow of Faerdhinen, Anguish, Assembler (even with a max cape, as it always provides a max hit), Unholy blessing for Zamorak protection and Bandos bracers for Bandos protection, plus Pegasian boots.
  • (1:53) You can optionally wear Devout boots instead for the prayer bonus, and the Ring of suffering is a good option to increase defence and prayer bonus to lengthen trips.
  • (1:53) A Ring of endurance is a decent option if you do not have high Agility but is unnecessary at 99.
  • (1:53) Gnomonkey says not to imbue the Bow of Faerdhinen under most circumstances because it takes 2,000 crystal shards, equivalent to 200,000 shots to break even and 20m GP in shards, and you are stuck with a bow that becomes relatively useless once you get a twisted bow.
  • (2:26) Inventory: a Kodai wand and ancestral robe top to Blood Barrage HP back between kills, a blowpipe loaded with dragon darts for minions and HP specs, a cannon base, three anglerfish, seven Divine bastion potions, one stamina and seven restores.
  • (2:26) The ancestral top is 4% better DPS than an occult necklace on the minions because you need some accuracy; without the top bring an occult necklace instead, and the Kodai can be swapped for a nightmare staff or master wand.
  • (2:54) The Explorer's ring is for the many rune items Graardor drops and for restoring run energy; the imbued heart is purely for mage defence against the mage minion and is not necessary.
  • (3:21) Gnomonkey brings a hilt that is the hard combat achievements reward (transcribed as 'Gomel's Hilt') to teleport to God Wars, swappable for a Trollheim tab, and the max cape for HP and run restoration between kills, the holy wrench effect and teleporting out.
  • (3:48) He also brings a rune pouch with soul, death and blood runes for Blood Barrage; bones to peaches tablets are not really needed and another restore can be taken instead for longer trips.

Bow of Faerdhinen

  • (0:00) Gnomonkey says the release of the Bow of Faerdhinen, combined with crystal armour, makes solo Bandos kills per hour similar to twisted bow kills at other God Wars bosses.
  • (0:29) He wears the Assembler even with a max cape because it always provides a max hit.
  • (1:53) Imbuing the Bow of Faerdhinen takes 2,000 crystal shards.
  • (9:07) Gnomonkey estimates the Bow of Faerdhinen costs roughly 106 GP per shot to fire, low compared with a tentacle whip at about 200 GP a swing, and about 150k GP an hour to fire continuously at Bandos.

Crystal armour

  • (8:57) Crystal armour is made with crystal shards and degrades slowly; Gnomonkey values a crystal shard at roughly 10k coins if turned into divine potions.
  • (9:07) Crystal armour degrades much slower than the bow because its charges are based on taking damage, so zero hits waste no charges, and the degradation rate depends on what you fight; at Hydra, Gnomonkey says you use basically no charges as you do not get hit.
  • (9:35) Gnomonkey guesses full crystal armour costs roughly 200k GP an hour to use at Bandos, though he says averages are hard to calculate.
