Topics covered

Blisterwood tree

  • (0:00) The Blisterwood tree was added with Sins of the Father in the middle of Darkmeyer; it is used in the quest to craft the blisterwood flail and afterwards has no use other than burning its logs for almost the same XP as willow logs.
  • (0:00) When chopped the Blisterwood tree never falls down, and it can be chopped a tick faster by spam clicking on it, similar to Ardougne Knights for Thieving.
  • (0:00) The video description says Gnomonkey put this video back up the minute the Blisterwood nerf was reverted.
  • (0:28) Spam-click methods on the Blisterwood tree can give up to 80k Woodcutting XP an hour at 99 with a dragon axe.
  • (0:28) Simply clicking and AFKing the Blisterwood tree gave Gnomonkey around 60k XP an hour, which he says is not worth doing if that is all you want.
  • (1:34) You cannot get bird's nests from the Blisterwood tree, so a rabbit's foot necklace and the Woodcutting cape are completely pointless here; Gnomonkey wears a Drakan's medallion in the neck slot instead.
  • (1:34) To reach the Blisterwood tree, teleport to Darkmeyer with the Drakan's medallion and run to the Arboretum slightly to the northeast; you can enter without the Vyre outfit by tanking the vampyres on the way.
  • (1:34) Method 1: rebind a key (Gnomonkey used the Windows key) to left click, spam click the tree, and drop logs when the inventory fills; he recommends an infernal axe here since it works on the tree and gives an additional 20k Firemaking XP an hour while needing fewer log drops.
  • (2:06) Gnomonkey reached 78k Woodcutting XP an hour on the Blisterwood tree with the key-rebinding method without chopping perfectly.
  • (2:06) Method 2: line your mouse up with part of your inventory and hold the inventory key (F key or a remapped key) so the inventory flickers constantly, turn on Windows sticky keys with shift locked so you can drop logs, and click the tree with the mouse.
  • (2:06) Pressing another keyboard key while flickering the inventory makes it stop flickering even if the key is held, so you must release and repress it; sticky keys avoid this, and a remapped keyboard key cannot be used to click while flickering, so you must click with a mouse.
  • (2:06) Gnomonkey had heard a USB foot pedal used to click would not stop the inventory flicker but had not tested it himself.
  • (3:05) The inventory-flicker method needed much less user interaction but gave Gnomonkey the same 78k XP an hour, because it misses ticks where you could be clicking the tree to chop faster.
  • (4:27) According to a tweet by Mod Ash, the pet can still be obtained from the Blisterwood tree, but Gnomonkey says the rates were not yet known.

Spam clicking and key rebinding

  • (0:28) Gnomonkey says to set up Windows Mouse Keys, which turns the numpad into mouse controls with the 5 key as left click, or rebind a keyboard key to left click if you have a compact keyboard.
  • (1:01) A program like AutoHotkey can rebind a key to left click; Gnomonkey uses a script rebinding left Windows to left click and says a download is in the resources section of his Discord.
  • (1:01) Gnomonkey says that as long as inputs are one to one, like simply rebinding a key, this is not against the RuneScape rules.

Woodcutting method comparison

  • (3:05) Gnomonkey notes Sulliuscepts give significantly more XP, up to 110k Woodcutting XP an hour even at lower levels, plus fossil lamps, but finds the Blisterwood tree a lot less intensive; he would still do Sulliuscepts on a different account.
  • (3:05) Gnomonkey points out Sins of the Father needs only 61 Woodcutting while Sulliuscepts need at least 65, so the Blisterwood tree may be worth filling the gap.
  • (3:36) Gnomonkey thinks the Blisterwood tree beats yew trees easily, since yews are only 30k XP an hour and 50k GP an hour, and Blisterwood should be double the XP even at lower levels.
  • (3:36) Gnomonkey would still pick redwoods over the Blisterwood tree in a heartbeat since they are so AFK with extremely similar XP, plus some profit and better Firemaking XP an hour from the infernal axe.
  • (3:36) Teak trees with tick manipulation are still the best Woodcutting XP according to Gnomonkey; AFK teaks give almost the exact same XP rate as the Blisterwood tree but the Blisterwood tree gives no nests or crystal shards.

Lumberjack outfit

  • (1:01) Before heading to the Blisterwood tree Gnomonkey recommends getting the Lumberjack outfit from Temple Trekking, which he says takes about half an hour with the Morytania Hard diary done.
  • (1:34) Gnomonkey notes the Lumberjack outfit is worth wearing at the Blisterwood tree as part of his setup, alongside a Drakan's medallion instead of a Woodcutting cape or bird nest items.
