Topics covered

Vyrewatch Sentinel

  • (0:00) Gnomonkey describes Vyrewatch Sentinels as a very unique task, basically a highly profitable Nightmare Zone alternative, exceptional because they are located directly in front of a prayer altar.
  • (0:00) Counting blood shard value even at its relatively low price in 2020, Vyrewatch Sentinels give about 1.5m GP an hour and 80 to 90k Melee XP an hour.
  • (0:00) Gnomonkey says Vyrewatch Sentinels are more AFK than gargoyles and have no prayer potion cost.
  • (0:26) Vyrewatch Sentinels are a common task from Duradel with a weight of 8.
  • (0:26) To fight Vyrewatch Sentinels you must have completed Sins of the Father, and the task must be unlocked from a Slayer master for 80 Slayer points.
  • (0:26) Vyrewatch Sentinels must be killed with the blisterwood staff received during Sins of the Father.
  • (0:54) Gnomonkey wears Proselyte armour rather than Bandos for this task because the point is AFK melee training; dragon boots, fury or Barrows gloves also work, and Devout boots or a ring of the gods can make it even more AFK.
  • (0:54) When fighting Vyrewatch Sentinels off task, swap the Slayer helmet for a Neitiznot faceguard (or similar), as Gnomonkey suggests.
  • (1:20) Gnomonkey's inventory: a standard divine super set without defence, sharks to heal from the divine potions' health drain, runes for alching, a Drakan's medallion to teleport there, and the Vyre outfit for banking; the sentinels are right next to a bank.
  • (1:20) Wearing the Vyre outfit turns off enemy aggression, so it is useful for regearing at the bank next to the Vyrewatch Sentinels.
  • (1:20) To start the task: put on the Vyre outfit, teleport to Darkmeyer, run to the bank, swap into real armour (which instantly aggroes all Vyres in the area), drink the super set, and pray Piety, a melee prayer and Rapid Heal using infinite prayer.
  • (1:48) The prayer altar just south of the bank hits you for 1, 2 or 3 damage each time you use it, so you do not want to constantly restore.
  • (1:48) Vyrewatch Sentinels are permanently aggressive, like dark beasts, so you do not need to reset aggro; Gnomonkey uses the RuneLite idle notifier with a prayer threshold and only has to pick up loot.
  • (1:48) Vyrewatch Sentinels drop many alchable items and noted items such as yew logs and coal, plus vampyre dust on every kill, which is used en masse in the Hallowed Sepulchre and is worth about 800 to 900 GP.
  • (2:20) The standard Vyrewatch Sentinel task took Gnomonkey just over an hour, which is long; he suggests testing the task before extending it since an extended task would take about two hours.
  • (2:20) On his task Gnomonkey averaged 83k Melee XP an hour while AFKing very hard, noting you could easily get over 90k XP an hour, and about 20k Slayer XP an hour, which he calls very standard.
  • (2:48) Gnomonkey received no blood shard (a 1 in 1500 drop) on the task but got 650k GP in loot, and would have received an extra 150k if he had picked up the vampyre dust.
  • (2:48) Gnomonkey says that because there is no prayer potion cost, Vyrewatch Sentinels beat gargoyles even without counting blood shard drops, and are basically just a better gargoyle or Kurask task.
  • (2:48) Gnomonkey recommends unlocking and even extending the Vyrewatch Sentinel task, and says it is a great option off task for players who hate NMZ and want something that actually makes money.
